在乔治王岛中部的阿德默勒尔蒂湾 ,凯勒半岛、于尔曼山嘴和埃内坎角是第三纪火山岩集中分布区。野外地质调查和同位素年代学研究表明 ,凯勒半岛发生了三期火山喷发 (三个火山喷发旋回 ) ,同时伴随着火山活动中心的不断北移 ;在第二期火山喷发之后 ,火口塌陷 ,形成破火山 ,之后在半岛北部又发生火山喷发 ,并向东迁移到于尔曼山嘴。因此凯勒半岛是一复活破火山 ,火山活动具有随时间迁移的特性。埃内坎角火山活动虽与上述两地区大致同时 ,但化学成分上不存在明显演化关系 ,应属另一相对独立的火山活动中心  相似文献

本文以野外地质资料为基础,并结合岩相学特征,论述了西南极南设得兰群岛利文斯顿岛汉那角(HannahPoint)火山岩地层及岩石的基本特征,初步讨论了该地火山活动过程。该地互层状产出的火山角砾岩和熔岩,为南极半岛火山岩组的一部分。剖面上出露的三个火山岩地层旋回分别是三期火山作用的产物。第一、二旋回岩层产状的变化记录了火山作用过程中的一次活动间歇。第一旋回的英安岩和含有流纹岩质熔岩夹层的凝灰角砾岩仅为第一期火山活动末的产物;第二旋回为三次较强喷发活动的产物,从安山岩质火山碎屑岩为主,经玄武岩-安山岩质熔岩为主,过渡为含有安山岩或流纹岩质熔浆团的火山角砾岩。第三期火山活动可能更强烈,大面积分布的厚层玄武质熔岩无论从产状上还是在岩石学特征方面都有别于其他旋回。火山岩地层总体产状稳定,平缓地倾向北西,表明该区未受到过明显的构造影响,火山活动中心可能有逐步向北西迁移的趋势,与南设得兰群岛岩浆弧演变趋势一致。次火山岩主要为玄武岩质小岩墙,集中在第二旋回底部。第一、二旋回接触界线两侧凝灰角砾岩表现较强的沸石化。这些现象说明该接触面附近为一薄弱带,侵入活动和蚀变均较易发生。  相似文献

本文综合近年研究中新获得的资料和证据,对利文斯顿岛火山岩的地质特征和火山作用特点作了综合性的介绍。百耳斯建造是该岛最老的火山岩地层,由晚侏罗世至早白垩世生成的玄武岩、玄武安山岩质熔岩和火山碎屑岩、集块岩以及泥岩、页岩等组成,分布在岛西部的百耳斯半岛。中白垩世的鲍勒斯山组主要出露在岛的中部,是由安山岩质熔岩和火山碎屑岩夹层组成的一套蚀变火山岩系。汉那角剖面的火山碎屑岩和熔岩及史莱夫角的橄榄玄武岩均具有中白垩世的年龄。晚白垩世火山活动的产物以粗玄岩为代表,集中出露在西多斯角一带。伴随着火山活动,始新世英云闪长岩侵入白垩系火山岩地层。更新世至现代则有依诺特角组橄榄玄武岩在岛的东北部产出。上述火山活动随时间演进而自北西向南东不断迁移的特点,与整个南设得兰群岛火山作用的发展趋势相符。岩石化学和地球化学资料表明,百耳斯半岛熔岩、史莱夫角的橄榄玄武岩和西多斯角的粗玄岩等白垩纪火山岩基本属于钙碱性岩系并且具有低钾低镁的特点。早第三纪的英云闪长岩继承了橄榄玄武岩和粗玄岩的成分特点,同是南设得兰群岛岩浆弧中生代-新生代火山作用的产物,在钙碱性岩系岩浆演化的晚期生成。而鲍勒斯山组的熔岩和汉那角的熔岩表现出岩相学和岩石化学性质上的  相似文献

纳尔逊岛Stansbury半岛被玄武质、玄武安山质熔岩和火山碎屑岩以及沉积火山碎屑岩所覆盖。区域火山岩地层对比证明其是在形成长城站地区火山岩的同一火山作用下发育起来的。据地质接触关系和岩石组合特点,初步认为该半岛火山岩地层可以进一步划分为三个岩性段,分别形成于两期火山作用。该半岛的主要构造线方向平行于菲尔德斯海峡,这在地貌特征及次火山岩的分布上得到了证实。  相似文献

利文斯顿岛火山岩是南极南设得兰岩浆弧的一部分。对岩石的Sr、Nd、Pb同位素组成以及87Sr/86Sr与1/Sr、Rb、K和SiO2关系的研究表明,利文斯顿岛火山岩具有不同的源区特征。百耳斯半岛和史莱夫角的火山岩、西多斯角的粗玄岩和第三纪的英云闪长岩显示出同成因的特点,和依诺特角第四纪橄榄玄武岩一样,它们均具有原生地幔的同位素组分,源区岩浆可能直接来自上地幔。汉那角和中利文斯顿岛火山岩岩浆则受到地壳成分的混染。不相容元素对La/Sm-La和Ce/Yb-Ce的研究进一步显示出,上述不同产地的岩石分别为不同源岩浆不同程度部分熔融的产物。结合岩相学和岩石化学特征的研究,提出百耳斯半岛和史莱夫角的火山岩以及西多斯角的粗玄岩是上地幔发生部分熔融所生成的玄武岩岩浆从深部岩浆囊沿构造薄弱带直接喷出形成的。古生代基底岩系的存在对中利文斯顿岛和汉那角火山岩的成因过程有重要的影响,即来自深部岩浆囊的原始岩浆在上地壳中的浅部岩浆囊受到了壳源物质混染。更新世-现代火山岩的源区岩浆直接自上地幔部分熔融生成,火山作用与晚新生代时该区的拉张构造有关。  相似文献

根据乔治王岛海军湾亨内克角群上部凝灰质砂泥岩夹层中的孢粉化石组合特征,讨论其时代归属和沉积环境。研究表明亨内克角群上部火山沉积岩中孢粉化石共40余种,主要成分为冈瓦纳早第三纪群落,属Weddelian生物地理区,Nothofagidites为代表分子,其中N.cf.saraensis和N.cf.flemingi的存在以及Proteaciditesspp.的缺失,提示含化石地层时代可能属渐新世,沉积环境为近中低山区的湖沼环境,气候温暖潮湿。  相似文献

西南极纳尔逊岛Stansbury半岛基本被玄武质、玄武安山质熔岩以及火山角砾岩和含植物化石的火山-碎屑沉积岩所覆盖。地层接触关系和火山岩岩石组合显示,该半岛的熔岩和火山角砾岩主要形成于第一阶段的火山活动,可与菲尔德斯半岛的碧玉山段以及玛瑙滩段地层对比;含化石的火山-碎屑沉积岩和角砾熔岩、火山角砾岩分别相当于长城站地区的化石山段和岩块山段的岩层,它们是晚期火山作用的产物。stansbury半岛和菲尔德斯半岛发育有基本相同的火山岩地层,并且都在化石山段地层中发现了植物化石,这表明两个半岛上的火山岩可能是早第三纪区域火山作用的共同产物。 半岛所出露的断裂大致平行菲尔德斯海峡并且控制了次火山岩的分布。 岩石学特征说明,Stansbury半岛的熔岩和次火山岩主要为玄武质和玄武安山质,岩石中的斑晶矿物包括偏基性的斜长石、单斜辉石。岩石化学成分中,随着SiO_2含量增高,Al_2O_3、CaO、MgO和铁含量下降,碱质则升高。和菲尔德斯半岛的火山岩一样,这个半岛的火山岩也基本沿着钙碱趋势演化。微量元素和稀土元素的丰度以及配分模式证明,这套岩石具有同源岩浆的亲缘关系并且可能经历了分离结晶作用过程。  相似文献

Plagioclases occur mainly as phenocrysts in volcanic rocks of King George Island, South Shetland Islands, West Antarctica. In basaltic andesites and andesites of Keller Peninsula and Ullman Spur (Admiralty Bay), they are high structure state labradorite andesines; and in high Al basalts and basaltic andesites of Barton and Weaver peninsulas (Maxwell Bay), they are high structure state bytownite anorthites.∑[WT9.BZ]REE, La/Yb ratios and δEu values of plagioclases from Admiralty Bay are higher than those from Maxwell Bay. All plagioclases have rather identical chondrite normalized transitional element distribution patterns, probably reflecting that crystal structure rather than composition of plagioclase controls their diversity. Compositions of plagioclases depend chiefly on those of their host rocks, compositional differences of plagioclases reveal that basaltic magmas in the Admiralty Bay area are more evolved than in the Maxwell Bay area.  相似文献

以K-Ar,(39)~Ar-(40)~Ar和Rb-Sr法对菲尔德斯半岛的火山岩进行了同位素测年。实验结果表明,半岛的火山作用从晚古新世开始,可能一直延续至中中新世的早期。其间,碧玉山段的岩石分别以Rb-Sr和(39)~Ar-(40)~Ar法测定了形成年龄,年龄值为54Ma和55Ma,属于晚古新世;岛上广泛分布的玛瑙滩段熔岩的K-Ar年龄区间为45~50Ma,为早始新世;化石山段从中始新世到渐新世;而最晚形成的岩块山段的时代为中中新世的早期。这些数据,与地质和古生物证据一起,对了解该区地层的相互关系和讨论火山作用提出了正确的认识。  相似文献

The ages of volcanic rocks from the Fildes Peninsula of King George Island, West Antarctica, have been determined with K-Ar, ~(39)Ar-~(40)Ar, Rb-Sr methods by the authors, The results show that: a. The volcanism on the Fildes Peninsula has been from later Paleocene to early Middle Miocene; b. The formation time of the volcanic rocks of Jasper Hill Member belongs to later Paleocene becarse of the isotope age being 54Ma and 55Ma determined with Rb-Sr and ~(39)Ar-~(40)Ar methods, respectively, c. The volcanic rocks of Agate Beach Member are the products of the volcanic activities during Early Eocene according to K-Ar isochron (45-50Ma); d. The geological age of fossil Hill member is about Middle Eocene to Early Oligocene; e. the formation time of Block Hill member is probably early Middle Miocene. These data combining with the geological adn palaeontological evidences strongly support to best understand the stratigraphical correlation adn reveal the volcanism in studied area.  相似文献

火山气溶胶通过反射太阳辐射导致地表降温。重建历史火山活动序列,是评估其气候效应,从而区分人为和自然因子的相对贡献、预测温室气体对全球气候影响的基础之一。此综述简要介绍了火山活动影响气候的作用机理。通过对冰芯研究历史及利用两极冰芯记录重建火山活动序列的研究进展的回顾,阐述了极地冰芯在火山活动序列重建中的作用与优势,以及近期研究在冰芯钻取和数据分析手段、极地火山信号向大气辐射强迫转化方法等方面所取得的成果;同时指出在火山沉积物的空间分布、冰芯定年及高低纬度火山喷发源的确定方面仍存在较大不确定性。因此应结合火山碎屑研究及非质量同位素分馏分析等方法,并钻取更多时间尺度更长且现有冰芯钻取较少的地区的深冰芯,以更精确地重建火山活动序列,从而提高对历史火山活动及其对气候影响的认识。  相似文献

The analysis of volcano‐sedimentary infill in sedimentary basins constitutes a challenge for basin analysis and hydrocarbon exploration worldwide. In order to understand the contribution of volcanism to the sedimentary record in rift basins, we study the Jurassic effusive‐explosive volcanic infill of an inverted extensional depocentre at the Neuquén Basin, Argentina. A cause and effect model that evaluates the relationship between volcanism and sedimentation was devised to develop a conceptual model for the tectono‐stratigraphic evolution of this volcanic rift basin. We show how the variations in the volcanism, coupled with the activity of extensional faults, determined the types of volcanic edifices (i.e., composite volcanoes, graben‐calderas, and lava fields). Volcanic edifices controlled the stacking patterns of the volcanic units as well as sedimentary systems. The landform of the volcanic edifices, as well as the styles and scales of the eruptions governed the sedimentary input to the basin, setting the main variables of the sedimentary systems, such as provenance, grain size, transport and deposition and geometry. As a result, the contrasting volcaniclastic input, from higher volcaniclastic input to lower volcaniclastic input, associated with different subsidence patterns, determined the high‐resolution syn‐rift infill patterns of the extensional depocentre. The cause and effect model presented in this study isolates the variables of the volcanic environments that control the sedimentary scenarios. We suggest that, by adjusting the first order input parameters of the model, these cause and effect scenarios could be adapted to similar rift basins, in order to establish predictive facies models with stratigraphic controls, and the impact of volcanism on their stratigraphic records.  相似文献

本文对菲尔德斯半岛群的划分提出了一个新的方案 ,时代从晚白垩世一直延续到中新世早期 ;新建立的半三角组系湖相沉积 ,孢粉及同位素年龄数据 (71 .3 +0 .3 Ma)均指示属晚白垩世后期 ,是目前所知菲尔德斯半岛出露最早的岩层 ,也是南极仅知的晚白垩世陆相沉积地层 ;据岩层区域分布、岩相及含古生物组分的差别 ,始新统化石山组可进而划分为上、下两部分 ,层型剖面仅代表该组下部地层 ,上部在别林斯高晋站油库附近出露较好 ;文中命名“苏菲尔角火山岩”以表示菲尔德斯半岛更新时代的火山活动 ,但尚需深入研究。  相似文献

The Hartbeesfontein basin is one basin within the Late Archaean rift system of South Africa. This rift system has been recently compared to the Basin and Range province in western North America and may therefore be an ensialic extensional back-arc basin. Structurally, the Hartbeesfontein basin is a half-graben structure bounded to the south-east by a major, normal, listric fault and to the north-east and south-west by strike-slip (transfer?) fault zones. It is infilled by over 2000 m of diamictites, shales, lavas and chemical sediments. Initial basin formation appears to be accompanied by phreatomagmatic volcanic activity caused by the interaction between basic tholeiitic magmas rising along fractures and groundwater. Volcaniclastic debris from these eruptions was incorporated into laharic debris flows and deposited on basin marginal alluvial fans. At the same time a deep, permanent lake formed within the basin in which silts and muds accumulated. Major fissure eruptions of basic, tholeiitic lavas followed, their eruptive centres being apparently located along the strike-slip (transfer?) fault /ones. Initially, these fissure eruptions had high rates of magma discharge accompanied by intense fire fountaining that resulted in the rapid accumulation of aa type flows. Later lava discharge rates decreased and more quiescent pahoehoe type flows were erupted. Localized centres of acid volcanism within the basic lava pile were located along the south-western strike-slip fault zone. These acid volcanic rocks are interpreted as co-ignimbrite lag breccias and pyroclastic flow deposits and tuffs produced by the repeated formation and collapse of Plinian eruption columns. Towards the top of the basic lava pile, two breaks in volcanism permitted the formation of dolomitic playa lakes. Sedimentation in these lakes was terminated by further basic lava flows. At the top of the basin fill sequence is a thick, bedded chert interpreted as a magadiitic, alkaline playa lake fed by silica-rich hot springs located along the south-eastern edge of the basin. Quartzites and conglomerates deposited by braided rivers unconformably overlie the basin-fill sequence and probably represent a through flowing river system signifying termination of the Hartbeesfontein basin as a separate basin. The Hartbeesfontein basin and its fill demonstrate that a close relationship exists between fissure volcanism, sedimentation and basin evolution and that the strike-slip, transfer faults acted as the loci of volcanic activity.  相似文献

Rb-Sr isotopic isochron dating of the volcanic rock samples from the Upper Cretaceous Half Three Point Formation on the King George Island is 71.33±0.3 Ma. Correlative study of _(εND)(T)-~(147)Sm/~(144)Nd, ~(143)Nd/~(144)Nd-~(87)Sr/~(86)Sr, ~(87)Sr/~(86)Sr-Sr and ~(87)Sr/~(86)Sr-K_2O/(K_2O+Na_2O) indicated that the volcanic rocks were chiefly derived from the depleted mantle source and generally were not mixed crust materials. Of the samples 6 were given the mean Sm-Nd model age (T_(DM)~(Nd) of 443.3±20.6 Ma possibly indicating the age of chemical variation event in the magma source of the study area. Features of the trace elements indicated that the rocks from the Half Three Point Formation are of typical eale-alkaline volcanic suite and similar to those from the Tertiary volcanic rocks of the Fildes Peninsula, being the same products of the island-arc volcanic activity.  相似文献

基于南极半岛东北部海域15个表层碎屑沉积物样品和1个柱状样的碎屑矿物学分析,对该区的沉积环境与物质来源进行了相关分析。结果显示,该区碎屑矿物共有31种,其中,重矿物19种,以石榴子石、紫苏辉石、绿帘石、普通角闪石为主;轻矿物12种,以石英、斜长石、火山玻璃(褐色、无色)为主。根据矿物组合分布特征,研究区可以划分为2个碎屑物沉积区:Ⅰ区为辉石-磁铁矿-火山玻璃型,主要物质来源为南设得兰群岛及南极半岛北段火山岩与火山喷发物,冰川为其主要搬运介质和动力来源;Ⅱ区为石榴子石-绿帘石-角闪石-石英型,南奥克尼群岛物质、南极绕极环流搬运南极半岛及其附近岛屿的物质对该区沉积物均有贡献。  相似文献

西南极乔治王岛菲尔德斯半岛主要由基性熔岩、火山碎屑岩及薄层沉积岩组成,并有次火山岩体及脉岩发育.野外观察及K—Ar,Rb—Sr全岩年龄说明岩石形成于始新一渐新世.主要元素和微量元素地球化学特征说明岩石属低钾高铝钙碱性玄武岩,但具有拉斑玄武岩的某些特征,是岛弧火山活动的产物.岩层呈平缓单斜,发育有近同期及后期走滑正断层,以及由断层活动形成的局部以称褶皱.  相似文献
