对假玄武玻璃的概念和特征以及形成环境和产状作了综合性描述,并对其摩擦熔融成因进行了论证,对假玄武玻璃的形成过程和形成机制以及形成假玄武玻璃的地震断层的动力机制、活动方式和脉动性质进行了深入探讨;同时对母岩矿物性质和流体对假玄武玻璃形成的影响进行了分析,概述了假玄武玻璃形成过程中的化学成分变化,最后提出了有待进一步研究的几个问题。  相似文献

Veins and clasts of pseudotachylyte developed in the microbreccias of the detachment fault along the boundary of the Xiaoqinling metamorphic core complex. The Raman spectral analysis shows that there are three kinds of textures in the matrices of the pseudotachylyte, i.e. ultracataclastic fine-grained texture, cryptocrystalline texture and both of them with minute quantity of glass. The three different textures are the results of different degrees of ultracataclasis. This demonstrates that ultracataclasis-comminution-melting is the genetic mechanism of the pseudotachylytes in the Xiaoqinling detachment fault and the ultracataclasis-comminution dominates in their formation. Abstract   The seismic slip that occurred during the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake in Taiwan showed contrastive behaviors in different regions along the Chelungpu Fault: A large and smooth slip occurred in the north, while a relatively small slip associated with high-frequency seismic wave radiation occurred in the south. The core samples from shallow boreholes at northern (Fengyuan) and southern (Nantou) sites penetrating the seismic Chelungpu Fault were analyzed. The fault zones at the northern site are characterized by soft clayey material associated with clayey injection veins. This suggests that the fault zones were pressurized during ancient seismic slip events, and hence the elastohydrodynamic lubrication occurred effectively. In contrast, the fault rock from the southern site is old pseudotachylyte that has been shattered by repeated ancient seismic slip events. Statistical analysis of many pseudotachylyte fragments reveals that the degree of frictional melting tended to be low. In this case, the seismic slip is restrained by the mechanical barrier of a highly viscous melt layer. These contrastive fault rocks were produced by repeated ancient seismic slip events, but the two corresponding mechanisms of friction are likely to have also occurred during the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake, thus causing the contrastive slip behaviors in the north and south.  相似文献

假玄武玻璃是一种呈暗色的微晶—隐晶质岩石,一般产于古地震断层滑动面,被认为是研究地震活动的"化石岩"。经过碎裂岩化或摩擦熔融,假玄武玻璃发育于从地表到岩石圈地幔的整个地震活动区,其年代学研究对于揭示某一地区古地震活动频次及发生规律有重要意义。假玄武玻璃的定年一般采用Rb-Sr、^40Ar-^39Ar、裂变径迹等三种方法,但Sr的扩散性质、假玄武玻璃内部结构和成分的不均一性及其形成高温快速过程中锆石的退火行为等诸多因素,制约了以上三种方法的应用。文中总结了三种方法,分析了其适用范围和局限性,探讨了假玄武玻璃定年研究中最适用的方法和需注意的事项。最后,阐述了假玄武玻璃研究的地震学指示意义。  相似文献

Pseudotachylytes generated in granulite facies rocks are found in the Woodroffe thrust, central Australia. Petrologic evidence and structural and textural features show that these pseudotachylytes contain typical melting-origin features including injection occurrence, rounded and embayed clasts, and microlites within the fine-grained matrix, which formed contemporaneously with the wall granulite facies rocks under conditions of ~8 kbar and ~650–700°C. These granulite-related pseudotachylyte (G-Pt) veins are overprinted in subsequent deformation stages by three other types of pseudotachylytes including mylonite-related (M-Pt) and ultramylonite-related (Um-Pt) pseudotachylytes that are then transcut by cataclasite-related pseudotachylytes (C-Pt). The overprinting occurred following uplift of the lower crust where the G-Pt veins formed through the brittle-plastic transition zone where the M-Pt and Um-Pt veins occurred within the brittle-dominated regime of the C-Pt generation zone in the upper crust. The coexistence of multiple generations of large voluminous C-Pt, M-Pt, Um-Pt, and G-Pt veins indicates that numerous large earthquakes accompanying distinct seismic slip which produced the pseudotachylytes occurred over an extended period of seismicity and various depths of the crust within the Woodroffe thrust zone. The spatial distribution and structural features of the multiple-stage pseudotachylytes suggest that coseismic slipping caused by large earthquakes which nucleated in the brittle-dominated seismogenic zone propagated downward through the brittle-plastic transition zone into the plastic-dominated granulite facies depth from the upper to lower crust.  相似文献

Although the Indus-Tsangpo Suture(ITS) is the most spectacular thrust system of continent-continent collision in the world, fundamental questions about its strength evolution and deformation behavior transition remain unanswered. Here we reported, for the first time, frictional melting-induced pseudotachylytes in the intensively deformed felsic rocks along the ITS zone in southern Tibet. This study reveals that pseudotachylytes induced profound weakness of the boundary fault between Indian and Asian plates. The intrinsically low strength of the foliated microlites crystallized from frictional melt or glass(i.e., pseudotachylyte) at seismogenic depths compared with the surrounding coarse-grained quartzofeldspathic rocks in the brittle and semi-brittle regime is sufficient to explain the localization of shear strain, the development of ductile shear zones embedded in strong wall rocks, and the transition from the strong to weak fault behaviors without invoking the presence of high fluid pressure or low friction coefficient metasomatic materials(e.g., smectite or lizardite) within the faults.  相似文献

断裂岩的岩石磁学研究可以揭示地震断裂作用的物理和化学环境,对于探讨地震断裂作用机制具有重要作用。本文在断裂岩岩石磁学最新文献的基础上,结合笔者及所在研究团队在龙门山断裂带获得的研究成果,综述了断裂岩的岩石磁学研究进展。大量研究发现断层泥和假玄武玻璃通常具有磁化率值或剩磁强度异常特征。顺磁性矿物在摩擦热或流体作用下形成新的铁磁性矿物是断层泥和假玄武玻璃高磁化率值或高剩磁强度的主要原因;地震断裂摩擦熔融作用中形成的单质铁是假玄武玻璃中高磁化率值或高剩磁强度异常的另一个重要原因。蠕滑断裂和出露于浅地表的断裂带中可见一些具有低磁化率值异常的断层泥,原因可能是流体作用或断裂带未经历高温摩擦热。断裂岩的岩石磁学研究为地震断裂带的应力应变、形成温度、摩擦热效应、流体作用、形成深度和氧化还原特征等提供了重要信息,可用于分析地震断裂的孕震和发震环境。综合岩石磁学测试和微米至纳米尺度的超显微学研究,并辅助地震断裂岩的摩擦实验、高温热模拟实验等研究可以更好地获得断裂岩的岩石磁学信息。  相似文献

在桐柏—大别造山带大河镇剪切带中首次发现与碎裂岩和糜棱岩共生的两种不同类型的假玄武玻璃。野外产状及显微结构的研究表明与碎裂岩共生的假玄武玻璃产出于以脆性破裂为主的断层浅部(<15km),而与糜棱岩共生的假玄武玻璃则产出于以韧性变形为主的断层深部(>15 km)。这两种类型的假玄武玻璃均含有熔解起源的自形微晶体,圆形或港湾状的碎片,流动结构和部分玻璃质基质。假玄武玻璃与碎裂岩和糜棱岩共生的现象说明在桐柏—大别造山带形成和隆起过程中同一断层剪切带内大地震重复发生。大河镇假玄武玻璃的研究可对大陆型大地震的发震机制及地壳浅部的脆性变形领域到深部的塑性变形领域的地震断层的破裂过程和力学性质的研究提供重要信息。  相似文献

The determination of the earthquake energy budget remains a challenging issue for Earth scientists, as understanding the partitioning of energy is a key towards the understanding the physics of earthquakes. Here we estimate the partition of the mechanical work density into heat and surface energy (energy required to create new fracture surface) during seismic slip on a location along a fault. Earthquake energy partitioning is determined from field and microstructural analyses of a fault segment decorated by pseudotachylyte (solidified friction-induced melt produced during seismic slip) exhumed from a depth of ~ 10 km—typical for earthquake hypocenters in the continental crust. Frictional heat per unit fault area estimated from the thickness of pseudotachylytes is ~ 27 MJ m− 2. Surface energy, estimated from microcrack density inside clast (i.e., cracked grains) entrapped in the pseudotachylyte and in the fault wall rock, ranges between 0.10 and 0.85 MJ m− 2. Our estimates for the studied fault segment suggest that ~ 97–99% of the energy was dissipated as heat during seismic slip. We conclude that at 10 km depth, less than 3% of the total mechanical work density is adsorbed as surface energy on the fault plane during earthquake rupture.  相似文献

The Alpine chain exposed in the Western Mediterranean area represents a front several kilometres in width, dismembered by more recent tectonics and by opening of the Tyrrhenian Basin. In most exposures of this mountain belt, relics of older metamorphic rocks occur. The deformational sequence of events may be revealed by the recognition of metamorphic records associated with different structures. Within a tract of the Alpine front cropping out in the Peloritani Mountains (NE Sicily), we distinguished two metamorphic complexes characterized by different tectonometamorphic histories. Their present tectonic juxtaposition is a cataclastic thrust linked to the recent Africa-verging Sicilian–Maghrebian fold-and-thrust belt. The Lower Complex is characterized by Hercynian metamorphism (P > 0.2 GPa and T ≈ 350°C) exclusively. It essentially consists of very low-grade metapelites and metavolcanic rocks overlain by an unmetamorphosed sedimentary cover. The Upper Complex, comprising different tectonic slices, consists of medium- to high-grade Hercynian metamorphic rocks (P?=?0.3–0.8 GPa and T up to 650°C) with Alpine metamorphic overprint (T > 250°C) affecting also the Mesozoic–Cenozoic cover. Lithotypes, structures, and inferred PT conditions of investigated rocks suggest the existence of an Alpine accretionary wedge during the Cretaceous deformational collision. Within the Upper Complex, a polyphase Palaeogene mylonitic horizon involving rocks belonging to different tectonic slices fully preserves the tectonometamorphic evolution. For this reason, we focused our attention on these sheared rocks in order to reconstruct the entire tectonic history of this geologically complex area. Our new basic model allows the complex structure of the nappe-pile edifice of the Peloritani Mountains to be simplified, casting new light on the tectonic evolution of this key sector of the southern Calabrian-Peloritani Orogen.  相似文献
