利用NCEP/NCAR再分析资料,通过波包传播的诊断方法,对2008年9月22—27日我国川西地区持续性暴雨过程期间波包传播和积累进行了分析与研究,分析表明,波包分布及传播能明显反映出降水过程的发生、维持和结束特征。波包的大值区域与强降水区域基本一致,强降水过程基本上产生于波包扰动能量积累的高值时段或处于高位相阶段。波包值的经向和纬向传播特征表明9月22—27日川西地区持续性暴雨过程主要受西太平洋副热带高压、偏北地区和高原地区的弱冷空气、孟湾和南海向盆地输送水汽的两条水汽通道以及台风"黑格比"的共同作用。  相似文献

Conditional Nonlinear Optimal Perturbation (CNOP) is a new method proposed by Mu et al. in 2003, which generalizes the linear singular vector (LSV) to include nonlinearity. It has become a powerful tool for studying predictability and sensitivity among other issues in nonlinear systems. This is because the CNOP is able to represent, while the LSV is unable to deal with, the fastest developing perturbation in a nonlinear system. The wide application of this new method, however, has been limited due to its large computational cost related to the use of an adjoint technique. In order to greatly reduce the computational cost, we hereby propose a fast algorithm for solving the CNOP based on the empirical orthogonal function (EOF). The algorithm is tested in target observation experiments of Typhoon Matsa using the Global/Regional Assimilation and PrEdiction System (GRAPES), an operational regional forecast model of China. The effectivity and feasibility of the algorithm to determine the sensitivity (target) area is evaluated through two observing system simulation experiments (OSSEs). The results, as expected, show that the energy of the CNOP solved by the new algorithm develops quickly and nonlinearly. The sensitivity area is effectively identified with the CNOP from the new algorithm, using 24 h as the prediction time window. The 24-h accumulated rainfall prediction errors (ARPEs) in the verification region are reduced significantly compared with the "true state," when the initial conditions (ICs) in the sensitivity area are replaced with the "observations." The decrease of the ARPEs can be achieved for even longer prediction times (e.g., 72 h). Further analyses reveal that the decrease of the 24-h ARPEs in the verification region is attributable to improved simulations of the typhoon's initial warm-core, upper level relative vorticity, water vapor conditions, etc., as a result of the updated ICs in the sensitivity area.  相似文献

Despite the intensive research over the past decades in the field of stochastic subsurface hydrology, our ability to analyze and model heterogeneous groundwater systems remains limited. Most existing theories are either too restrictive to handle practical complexity or too expensive to be applied to realistic problem sizes. In this paper we present approximate, closed-form equations that allow modeling 2D nonstationary flows in statistically inhomogeneous aquifers, including composite aquifers containing multiple zones characterized by different statistical models. The composite representation has the effect of decreasing the variance of deviations from the mean, relaxing the limitation of the small-perturbation assumption. The simple formulas are illustrated with a number of examples and compared with a corresponding first-order nonstationary numerical analysis and Monte Carlo simulation. The results show that, despite the gross simplifications, the closed-form equations are robust and able to capture complex variance dynamics, reproducing surprisingly well the first-order numerical solutions and the Monte Carlo simulation even in highly nonstationary, variable situations.  相似文献

In this paper, we set out to study the ensemble forecast for tropical cyclones. The case study is based on the Conditional Nonlinear Optimal Perturbation related to Parameter (CNOP-P) method and the WRF model to improve the prediction accuracy for track and intensity, and two different typhoons are selected as cases for analysis. We first select perturbed parameters in the YSU and WSM6 schemes, and then solve CNOP-Ps with simulated annealing algorithm for single parameters as well as the combination of multiple parameters. Finally, perturbations are imposed on default parameter values to generate the ensemble members. The whole proposed procedures are referred to as the Perturbed Parameter Ensemble (PPE). We also conduct two experiments, which are control forecast and ensemble forecast, termed Ctrl and perturbed-physics ensemble (PPhyE) respectively, to demonstrate the performance for contrast. In the article, we compare the effects of three experiments on tropical cyclones in aspects of track and intensity, respectively. For track, the prediction errors of PPE are smaller. The ensemble mean of PPE filters the unpredictable situation and retains the reasonably predictable components of the ensemble members. As for intensity, ensemble mean values of the central minimum sea-level pressure and the central maximum wind speed are closer to CMA data during most of the simulation time. The predicted values of the PPE ensemble members included the intensity of CMA data when the typhoon made landfall. The PPE also shows uncertainty in the forecast. Moreover, we also analyze the track and intensity from physical variable fields of PPE. Experiment results show PPE outperforms the other two benchmarks in track and intensity prediction.  相似文献

A parameterisation ofthe effective roughness length is presented for an arbitrary givenroughness distribution z0(x,y) over flat terrainat neutral stratification.Beyond pure averaging, it takes into account the spatial structure of the distribution, especially the influence of length scales, and inflow direction.To allow for interactions between different rough areas, Boussinesq-approximated equations with a turbulence closure of first order are considered and solved using perturbation theory.As a result, the logarithm of the effective roughness length isrepresented as a sum over the product of the Fourier transformation of log z0 and a so-called dynamic function, which describesthe response of the flow field to a single wavelength of z0.Although the numerical expenditure is larger than for simple averaging formulae,this method could be used by large-scale models to calculateeffective roughness lengths in every close-to-surface grid cell.  相似文献

Non-linear wave pressure induced by short-crested waves on a vertical wall is an important factor to be considered in the design of coastal structures. The existing models to estimate the wave pressure in engineering design are limited to the third-order solution ([Hsu et al., 1979]). In this paper, an analytical solution up to the fifth-order is derived through perturbation approximation. This analytical closed-form solution is used to investigate the contributions of the higher-order components in short-crested waves. It is found that fifth-order components significantly affect the change of pressure, especially in shallow water and larger waves.  相似文献

The paper analyzes the effect which prescribed errors in the cross-shore boundary conditions for a computational domain along a beach have on the flow field predicted inside the domain. This problem is relevant because errors in boundary conditions are unavoidable when modeling limited domains of a nearshore region. For simplicity, we consider a longshore uniform plane beach with monochromatic, obliquely incident waves, and assume depth uniform currents. It is then studied analytically and numerically how small perturbations of the boundary conditions along both upstream and downstream cross-shore boundaries spread inside the computational domain. It is found that the errors at the upstream cross-shore boundary tend to spread over a long distance downstream of the boundary, while the influence of the errors in the downstream boundary condition is limited to the adjacent upstream area of the computational domain. Both the numerical and analytical solutions show that the errors introduced at the upstream boundary decay exponentially in the surf zone at a rate proportional to the bottom friction. A simple formula is developed to estimate the influence distance of the upstream errors. If we consider the mismatch in the volume flux at the upstream boundary, the error merely redistributes in the cross-shore direction to conserve volume. In the case of excessive flux or velocity specified at the cross-shore boundaries, a circulation cell tends to appear in the offshore region where the errors caused by the boundary mismatch increase with the cross-shore width of the model domain.  相似文献

This paper presents the analytical properties of the sensitivity of the two-dimensional, steady-state groundwater flow equation to the flow parameters and to the boundary conditions, based on the perturbation approach. These analytical properties are used to provide guidelines for model design, model calibration and monitoring network design. The sensitivity patterns are shown to depend on the nature of both the perturbed parameter and the variable investigated. Indeed, the sensitivity of the hydraulic head to the hydraulic conductivity extends mainly in the flow direction, while the sensitivity to the recharge spreads radially. Besides, the sensitivity of the flow longitudinal velocity to the hydraulic conductivity propagates in both the longitudinal and transverse directions, whereas the sensitivity of the flow transverse velocity propagates in the diagonal directions to the flow. The analytical results are confirmed by application examples on idealized and real-world simulations. These analytical findings allow some general rules to be established for model design, model calibration and monitoring network design. In particular, the optimal location of measurement points depends on the nature of the variable of interest. Measurement network design thus proves to be problem-dependent. Moreover, adequate monitoring well network design may allow to discriminate between the possible sources of error.  相似文献
