In an effort to assess the reliability of satellite altimeter systems, the authors conduct a comparative analysis of sea level data that were collected from the TOPEX/POSEIDON (T/P) altimeter and 10 tide gauges (TG) near the satellite passing ground tracks. The analysis is made using datasets collected from marginal sea regions surrounding the Korean Peninsula at T/P cycles of 2 to 230, which correspond to October 1992 to December 1998. Proper treatment of tidal errors is a very critical step in data processing because the study area has very strong tide. When the T/P data are processed, the procedures of Park and Gamberoni (1995) are adapted to reduce errors associated with the tide. When the T/P data are processed in this way, the alias periods of M2, $2, and K1 constituents are found to be 62.1, 58.7, and 173 days repectively. The compatibility of the T/P and TG datasets are examined at various filtering periods.The results indicate that the low-frequency signals of the T/P data can be interpreted more safely with longer filtering periods (such as up to the maximum selected value of 200 days). When RMS errors for the 200-day low-pass filter period are compared with all 10 tidal stations, the values span the range of 2.8 to 6.7 cm. The results of a correlation analysis for this filtering period also show a strong agreement between the T/P and TG datasets across all stations investigated (e.g., p-values consistently less than 0.001). Hence according to the analysis, the conclusion is made that the analysis of surface sea level using satellite altimeter data can be made safely with reasonably extended filtering periods such as 200 days.  相似文献

A thermohaline front is located at the southeastern entrance of the Yellow Sea in winter, and it is generated by the intrusion of warm saline water into the Yellow Sea caused by a strong northerly wind. Recently, a westward transversal current traveling away from the west coast of Korea toward the open sea area along the front was reported. The westward transversal current is dominant in the surface layer during the temperature inversion period. The formation and structure of this current are examined using a numerical vertical ocean-slice model. When two different water masses meet, a front is formed and adjusted geostrophically. In this frontal zone, a horizontal pressure gradient flow by the vertically inclined isopycnal occurs under the thermal wind process in a baroclinic effect, and the cold fresh coastal water moves westward along the front in the upper layer. The barotropic effect across the front and the bottom friction effect strengthen the westward component of the velocity. The velocity of the bottom layer decreases remarkably in the increase of the bottom drag coefficient. This means that the bottom friction with the strong background tidal current causes a reduction in the current in the bottom layer.  相似文献

通过对吉林省晚中生代含煤地层中木化石的系统调查,共采集162块木化石,均属裸子植物,共5属8种。其中出现频率最高者为异木属,其次为落羽杉型木属等,Taxadiorylon albertense,T.pseudonlbertense两种在中国为首次发现。笔者将木化石称Xenoxylon latiporosum-Taxodioxylon pseudoalbeltense组合。研究表明,异木属主要生长在温湿的温带气候环境;据目前的资料还不能证明该属是适应能力极强的树种。本文还记述了上述木化石产出的地质概况,并探讨了其地质意义和古环境。  相似文献

使用日本GMS - 5静止卫星红外云图普查了 1993年 7、8月份黄海及周边地区α中尺度对流系统 (MαCS)的发生情况 ,并用合成和客观分析诊断的方法考察MαCS两个活跃期和两个静寂期的大尺度环境场的热力和动力条件。结果表明 ,MαCS活跃期和静寂期的合成诊断场有显著的不同 ,从而揭示了黄海地区发生MαCS的环境条件主要为 :①低层为高相当位温的暖湿空气 ;②中低层的条件性不稳定的大气层结及暖平流 ;③强而稳定的西南低空急流 ;④低层的辐合及中层不太强的上升运动 ;⑤副热带西风急流出口区右侧的高层辐散。  相似文献

Various early Paleozoic (Cambrian Series 3–Middle Ordovician) reefs are found in the Taebaek Group, eastern Korea, located in the eastern margin of the Sino-Korean Block. They occur in every carbonate-dominant lithostratigraphic unit of the group, but their morphology and composition differ markedly. The Daegi Formation (middle Cambrian: Cambrian Series 3) contains siliceous sponge-Epiphyton reefs formed in a shallow subtidal environment, which is one of the earliest metazoan-bearing microbial reefs after the archaeocyath extinction. The Hwajeol Formation (upper Cambrian: Furongian) encloses sporadic dendrolites consisting of Angulocellularia, which developed in a relatively deep subtidal environment, representing a rare deeper water example. The onset of the Ordovician radiation resulted in the formation of microbialite–Archaeoscyphia–calathiid patch reefs in shallow subtidal deposits of the Lower Ordovician Dumugol Formation. Subsequent late Early Ordovician relative sea-level fall established extensive peritidal environments, forming microbial mats and stromatolites of the Lower–Middle Ordovician Makgol Formation. Ensuing Ordovician radiation resulted in one of the earliest metazoan skeletal reefs of the Middle Ordovician Duwibong Formation, constructed by stromatoporoid Cystostroma and bryozoan Nicholsonella, and developed around shallow shoals. These reefs reflect ongoing evolution and sea-level change during the early Paleozoic, and exemplify a rare glimpse of peri-Gondwanan records of reef evolution, which warrant detailed investigations and comparison with their counterparts in other regions.  相似文献

This study has been conducted to identify the characteristics of the biodiversity promoted and maintained by gudeuljang paddy field. For this purpose, a literature review was used to identify the distribution of gudeuljang paddy field on Cheongsan-do. Based on the results of the review, a target area was selected to conduct an investigation of the flora of the vascular plants and a phytosociological examination, which included general farmlands and neighboring areas, was made for comparison. As a result of the study, we were able to identify the differences between the type of gudeuljang paddy field that uses continuous irrigation and other types of land use. We found that the unique physical structure for water passage found in gudeuljang paddy fields with continuous irrigation is more effective in promoting biodiversity than the other types of land use in this area. In conclusion, the presence of gudeuljang paddy fields on Cheongsan-do contributes more to the creation of an appropriate biohabitat than it detracts from such a creation. Also, the presence of gudeuljang paddy fields is significant in that it exercises positive influence on the promotion of biodiversity, such as propagation of species, and the connection of habitats in adjacent forest, village, and farm lands. Our result shows that the maintenance and preservation of gudeuljang paddy fields on Cheongsan-do plays a crucial part in the preservation and maintenance of the biodiversity for vegetation that grows among rocks and in adjacent forest areas.  相似文献

The formation and evolution of glacier moraine-dammed lakes are closely related to past glacier expansion and retreat. Geomorphic markers such as lacustrine terraces and beach ridges observed in these lakes provide important evidence for regional paleoenvironment reconstruction. We document the magnitude of paleo-shoreline fluctuations and timings of highstands of lake water by using cosmogenic ~(10)Be surface exposure dating and optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating on samples collected from lacustrine sediment and bedrock strath in Lake Khagiin Khar. The lake was initially impounded by glacier moraine at the Global Last Glacial maximum(gLGM; 21–19 ka), and the lake reached its maximum paleo-shoreline level of 1840 m at sea level(a.s.l.). At that time, the stored lake water amount was up to seven times greater and the surface area was three times larger than the present values. The paleolake experienced higher shoreline levels at 1832, 1822, and 1817 m a.s.l. and reached the present lake level after 0.4 ka. We interpret that decrease in the paleolake level was caused by spillover. The increase in melt water after the gLGM and the Late Glacial exceeded the storage threshold of the lake, and the paleolake water overflowed across the lowest drainage divides. The lake spilled over across the lowest bedrock ridge at 15.9 ± 0.6 ka, and the outlet was incised since that time at a rate of 3.72 ± 0.15 mm/yr. The initial stream of the Khiidiin Pass River was disturbed by LGM moraine damming and was rerouted into the present course running through moraine after the spillover at 15.9 ± 0.6 ka.  相似文献
