Abstract

The sea level station operating since 1996 at Mazagón (Huelva, Spain) has been progressively upgraded to fit tsunami warning requirements, due to its location in one of the main regions at risk. Its radar water level sensor was complemented in 2017, with the addition of a pressure sensor. The performance of both sea level sensors and their response to sea level oscillations, at different frequencies, is assessed. Particular emphasis is put on the effect of extreme events, such as Storm Emma, when alternative methods to obtain 1-min data are tested, in contrast to the one based on arithmetic means. The overall differences are small, for the whole period of study (centered-root-mean-square-error below 1?cm, for 5-min, and hourly data; similar tidal parameters and sea level oscillations with periods between 30?s and 5?min). However, during Storm Emma, the pressure sensor presents sensibly lower readings than the radar, with the centered-root-mean-square-error rising to 80?mm on the March 2nd 2018. A new method to compute 1-min data, based on medians, reduced this value to 10?mm for the same day.  相似文献

In real-time towed-array systems, performance degradation of array gain occurs when a line array that is not straight is assumed straight in the beamforming process. In this paper, a new method is proposed for array shape estimation. The novelty of this method is that it accounts for the variations in the tow ship's speed, which are typical during course alterations. The procedure consists of two steps. First, we solve for the tow-point induced motion in the time domain based on the constraints from the tow-point compass-sensor readings and from a discretized Paidoussis equation. At each time instance, the shape estimate is solved from a linear system of equations. We also show that this solution is equivalent to a previous frequency-domain solution while the new approach is much simpler. In the second step, we use the tail compass-sensor data to adjust the overall array shape. By noting that variations in the ship speed lead to a distortion in the normalized time axis, we first register the predicted tail displacement with the tail sensor readings along the time axis. Then, distortions in the estimated array shape over its length can be compensated accordingly. We also model a slow-changing bias between sensor zeros and remove systematic sensor errors. The effectiveness of the new algorithm is demonstrated with simulations and real sea-trial data.  相似文献

A novel planar fluorosensor has been developed for measuring two-dimensional activity distributions of the extracellular enzyme, leucine-aminopetidase (Leu-AP), in marine sediments. The sensor is a foil consisting of an enzyme substrate l-leucine 7-amido-4-methylcoumarin hydrochloride (Leu-MCA) and a Hydromed D4 membrane, backed by a polyester sheet. In its present application, the sensor foil is introduced into surficial deposits to a depth of ~ 10–15 cm, and time dependent fluorescence production occurring in successive digital images is used to resolve enzyme activity patterns. Corrections for microenvironmental variability (e.g., diffusion and adsorption properties) and background reflectance were made. The planar fluorosensor technique was standardized by comparison with traditional slurry based methods using homogenized sediment sections. Spatially averaged, vertical enzyme activity profiles measured using the imaging sensor system were contrasted with the traditional method to verify the reliability of this new approach. The new system resolves enzyme activity on a submillimeter scale over relatively large areas (~ 50–100 cm2). In addition to allowing rapid determination of enzyme activity patterns in undisturbed material, the transparent nature of the sensing foils permits direct correlation of enzyme distributions to heterogeneous biological and physical structure.  相似文献

电化学方法是测量海水pH值的主要方法之一。针对自主研发的基于铱金属及其氧化物电极的pH传感器,建立了海水环境下仪器标定和数据校正的方法,并在近岸和大洋环境中进行了原位测试的应用。仪器标定包括:(1)依照海水pH分析的标度要求选取适当的标定缓冲试剂;(2)以标准海水替代常用的2-氨基吡啶(AMP)溶液制备标定缓冲体系。数据校正主要包括温度背景校正及误差校正。海区原位测试应用以及与其他同类仪器对比表明,标定体系差异带来的误差可达1.00 pH单位,数据校正可提升测试精度0.10~3.00 pH单位不等。仪器的标定与数据校正方法能有效提高该自研pH传感器的测量精度。  相似文献

Resulting from the rising levels of atmospheric carbon, ocean acidification has become a global problem. It has significant impacts on the development, survival, growth and physiology of marine organisms. Therefore, a highprecision sensor is urgently needed to measure the pH of sea-water. Iridium wire with a diameter of 0.25 mm is used as the substrate, and an Ir/Ir(OH)_x pH electrode is prepared by a one-step electrochemical method in a Li OH solution at the room temperature. A scanning electron microscope(SEM) observation reveals that it is coated with nanoscale particles. In laboratory tests, the electrode exhibits a very promising pH response, with an ideal Nernst slope(56.14–59.52), fast response, good stability and long life-span in tested pH buffer solutions. For a sea trial,four pH electrodes and one Ag/Ag Cl reference electrode are integrated with a self-made chemical sensor, and a profile detection of nearly 70 m is implemented near Newport Harbor, California on August 3, 2015. The results reflect that the pH value measured by the sensor is very close to the data given by Sea-Bird 911 plus CTD, with a difference value ranging from 0.000 075 to 0.064 719. And the sensor shows a better data matching degree in 0–40m water depth. In addition, the high precision and accuracy of the sensor make it possible to use in the ocean observation field.  相似文献

联合使用Jason-2成功发射3 a来的Jason-2(cycle 001-113)、轨道调整前后的Envisat(cycle 070-107)以及轨道调整后的Jason-1(cycle 263-352)等在轨高度计卫星数据,首先对电离层延迟校正项进行平滑处理,再经过数据编辑和各项地球物理及环境改正后,对周期(cycle)逐一进行统计验证并剔除交叉点不符值异常的数据周期,采用共线处理和交叉点平差削弱海面时变和径向轨道误差的影响,再经参考椭球和参考框架基准的统一,最后选用Shepard方法建立了我国海域及邻海海域(0°~45°N,100°~140°E)2'×2'分辨率的平均海平面模型。将所建立模型与MSS_CNES_CLS01模型和MSS_CNES_CLS10模型进行了比较,不符值RMS分别为8.28和11.65 cm,验证了所开展模型的正确性。  相似文献

Steel jacket-type platforms are the common kind of the offshore structures and health monitoring is an important issue in their safety assessment.In the present study,a new damage detection method is adopted for this kind of structures and inspected experimentally by use of a laboratory model.The method is investigated for developing the robust damage detection technique which is less sensitive to both measurement and analytical model uncertainties.For this purpose,incorporation of the artificial immune system with weighted attributes(AISWA) method into finite element(FE) model updating is proposed and compared with other methods for exploring its effectiveness in damage identification.Based on mimicking immune recognition,noise simulation and attributes weighting,the method offers important advantages and has high success rates.Therefore,it is proposed as a suitable method for the detection of the failures in the large civil engineering structures with complicated structural geometry,such as the considered case study.  相似文献

深入研究珠江口地区海陆过渡带壳内低速层的结构和构造特征对于理解板内地震的发震机理、孕震构造及该区域的地壳结构具有重要的地质地球物理意义。利用2015年珠江口区域海陆地震联测L2-ME测线上的19个地震台站(包括陆上台站14台, 海底地震仪5台)记录到的地震数据来探明该区域低速层的结构和构造特征。在常规震相的基础上, 加入了大量的滑行波震相(Ph)进行结构模型计算, Ph震相的增加使得地壳内部10~20km范围内的射线覆盖密度有了显著提高, 从而获得了L2-ME测线下方更为精确的地壳纵波速度结构模型。结果发现, 模型中测线下方13~18km深度范围内稳定连续展布的壳内低速层被清晰成像, 其内部速度稳定在5.7~6.0 km·s-1之间, 与上下层界面速度差分别为0.5km·s-1、0.4km·s-1, 低速特征明显。该低速层厚度由陆侧的3.5km左右降至海侧的1km, 呈现出向海侧逐渐减薄的趋势, 低速层底界面起伏变化较大且具有与莫霍面相似的起伏特征。  相似文献

使用TRMM卫星搭载的闪电成像传感器测得的1998-2005年间的闪电信息,结合热带气旋的活动特征,提出了一种识别热带气旋闪电的方法,进而分离了1998-2005年西北太平洋热带气旋的闪电信息,并在此基础上,对西北太平洋的热带气旋闪电特征进行了初步分析.结果表明:西北太平洋热带气旋的眼壁附近(距热带气旋中心约30~50km)、内雨带(热带气旋中心外约60~100km)和外雨带(热带气旋中心外约130~610km)内普遍存在闪电现象,而且各月均有发生,并以7-8月较频;我国东南沿海地区,特别是台湾岛-台湾海峡-福建沿海地区、珠江三角洲的近海海域,是最易发生热带气旋闪电的两个区域,而日本岛东南方向广阔的西北太平洋洋面上的热带气旋,则较少有闪电发生.此外,闪电与热带气旋的强度及其变化有一定的关系,利用发生在热带气旋不同区域的闪电信息可对热带气旋的强度进行估算,估算的误差与目前的业务定强误差接近.  相似文献

We have developed a new system for real-time observation of tsunamis and crustal deformation using a seafloor pressure sensor, an array of seafloor transponders and a Precise Point Positioning (PPP ) system on a buoy. The seafloor pressure sensor and the PPP system detect tsunamis, and the pressure sensor and the transponder array measure crustal deformation. The system is designed to be capable of detecting tsunami and vertical crustal deformation of ±8 m with a resolution of less than 5 mm. A noteworthy innovation in our system is its resistance to disturbance by strong ocean currents. Seismogenic zones near Japan lie in areas of strong currents like the Kuroshio, which reaches speeds of approximately 5.5 kt (2.8 m/s) around the Nankai Trough. Our techniques include slack mooring and new acoustic transmission methods using double pulses for sending tsunami data. The slack ratio can be specified for the environment of the deployment location. We can adjust slack ratios, rope lengths, anchor weights and buoy sizes to control the ability of the buoy system to maintain freeboard. The measured pressure data is converted to time difference of a double pulse and this simple method is effective to save battery to transmit data. The time difference of the double pulse has error due to move of the buoy and fluctuation of the seawater environment. We set a wire-end station 1,000 m beneath the buoy to minimize the error. The crustal deformation data is measured by acoustic ranging between the buoy and six transponders on the seafloor. All pressure and crustal deformation data are sent to land station in real-time using iridium communication.  相似文献

The formation of acoustic images in real-time requires an enormous computational burden. To reduce this demand the use of sparse arrays for beamforming is mandated. The design of these arrays for adequate mainlobe width and low sidelobe level is a difficult nonlinear optimization problem. A new approach to the joint optimization of sensor placement and shading weights is discussed. Based on the concept of importance sampling an optimization method is presented and some examples given to illustrate its effectiveness.  相似文献

Moving particle semi-implicit (MPS) method is a fully Lagrangian particle method which can easily solve problems with violent free surface. Although it has demonstrated its advantage in ocean engineering applications, it still has some defects to be improved. In this paper, MPS method is extended to the large eddy simulation (LES) by coupling with a sub-particle-scale (SPS) turbulence model. The SPS turbulence model turns into the Reynolds stress terms in the filtered momentum equation, and the Smagorinsky model is introduced to describe the Reynolds stress terms. Although MPS method has the advantage in the simulation of the free surface flow, a lot of non-free surface particles are treated as free surface particles in the original MPS model. In this paper, we use a new free surface tracing method and the key point is "neighbor particle". In this new method, the zone around each particle is divided into eight parts, and the particle will be treated as a free surface particle as long as there are no "neighbor particles" in any two parts of the zone. As the number density parameter judging method has a high efficiency for the free surface particles tracing, we combine it with the neighbor detected method. First, we select out the particles which may be mistreated with high probabilities by using the number density parameter judging method. And then we deal with these particles with the neighbor detected method. By doing this, the new mixed free surface tracing method can reduce the mistreatment problem efficiently. The serious pressure fluctuation is an obvious defect in MPS method, and therefore an area-time average technique is used in this paper to remove the pressure fluctuation with a quite good result. With these improvements, the modified MPS-LES method is applied to simulate liquid sloshing problems with large deforming free surface. Results show that the modified MPS-LES method can simulate the large deforming free surface easily. It can not only capture the large impact pressure accurately on rolling tank wall but also can generate all physical phenomena successfully. The good agreement between numerical and experimental results proves that the modified MPS-LES method is a good CFD methodology in free surface flow simulations.  相似文献

A problem in the use of ocean bottom seismometers is the difficulty in leveling the sensors while ensuring good coupling to the seafloor. We have investigated the coupling characteristics of the seismic sensors in the new ONR ocean bottom seismometer. In the deployable sensor package for that instrument, a three-component seismometer set is suspended on a 2-axis passive leveling gimbal and is immersed in a viscous fluid. We report tests, conducted in a seismic vault, comparing the output of a gimbaled seismometer set to that of a set rigidly coupled to the ground. Our results show that the degree to which the gimbaled set is coupled to ground motion is a function of the viscosity of the coupling fluid. The coherence between the two sensor sets is poor (<0.4) at some frequencies within the band of interest (0.15 to 20 Hz) and on some components when the viscosity of the coupling fluid is comparatively low (14 Pa-s or 0.16 kSt kinematic viscosity). In addition, the outputs of some components over portions of this frequency band are attenuated and are phase-shifted relative to the outputs of the set rigidly coupled to the ground. Coherence and phase response similarity improve as the viscosity of the coupling fluid is increased. With a coupling fluid viscosity of 980 Pa-s (10 kSt), coherence and phase agreement between the two sensor sets is good (>0.9) across nearly the entire band of interest on all three components. A simple analytical model of the gimbaled seismometer set as a damped, driven, compound-pendulum provides a basis for understanding the test results.  相似文献

- A combined numerical model for computing mixing areas of pollution vertical jet discharging into tidal flows has been developed. This numerical model is composed of a 2-D depth-averaged dynamic far-field numerical model and a 2-D vertical dynamic near-field numerical model. The former uses finite node method to compute velocity, and improved finite node method to compute pollutant concentration distribution; the latter is a k-e turbulence model, and uses SIMPLE (Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure Linked Equations) method to compute velocity. At the same time, the former provides boundary conditions for the latter. This model can simulate both far- field pollutant concentration distribution and near-field vertical recirculation quickly and precisely. This model has been verified by measured data of pollutant F of the Dachang reach of the Changjing River and test data presented by Chen el al. (1992). 随着对水下目标特性研究的深入和声学探测技术的发展,基于单模态的阵列式信息融合或基于空间信息的分布式信息融合的水下目标识别方法研究已有一定成果,但针对复杂海况导致单一物理场或单一融合层次的系统识别性能提高有限等方面影响的水下目标识别方法研究还有所不足,因此,开展基于多模态深度融合模型的水下目标识别方法研究可利用模态互补,共享信息而提升识别率。文中在国内外研究基础上,深入研究了基于到达时差法和多模态方法组合的检测方法,初步形成了基于水声环境空间中多模态深度融合模型的识别框架,开展了海洋中典型自然与人为事件的信号分析与特征提取,并在此基础上,设计新型基于海底基站的被动识别系统。该系统同步记录和由位置等组成的时间序列标记声、磁和压数据,可实现高精度、高分辨率的识别。本研究可满足未来海洋观测对高性能水下目标探测、定位和跟踪系统的迫切需要,为海洋安全监管、海洋突发事件应急响应等领域提供新的技术手段和科学参考。  相似文献

A spatial statistical method has been developed from the well-known Kriging technique in geostatistics, as a way of providing quantitative comparison between a pair of spatial data sets, and a measure for such a comparison. This residual analysis method is applied to oceanographic data in order to compare Iceland-Faeroes Front (IFF) model predictions against appropriate field observations, with an aim to assess the IFF model performance and its prediction accuracy. The method is also used to evaluate the model-generated dynamical variability within the model predictions, as well as the natural variability within the frontal observations. From the results, it has been found that the IFF model is highly robust, and gives better predictions at depth 150–350 m than elsewhere. Within such a depth (i.e. 250–350 m), there is also evidence to suggest that the main frontal region is most active above the IF Ridge. The natural variability obtained from the observations appears to be comparable to the model-generated dynamical variability after 20 days of integration, indicating a certain degree of accuracy in the model predictions. The method reported in this paper could also be extended for further use in model data assimilation. Thus, the work not only demonstrates how spatial statistics can be applied to oceanographic data, but also opens up new statistical tools for data handling in ocean modelling.  相似文献
