The long-term sustainability of an anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) process in a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) treating highly concentrated (mean of 740 mg NH4 +-N L?1) wastewater was demonstrated by 1600 days of efficient operation. A high maximum total nitrogen removal rate (TNRR) of 1.5 g N m?2 d?1 was achieved at the low temperature of 20 °C. For nitrogen removal recovery in cases of nitrite inhibition, anammox intermediate nitric oxide (NO) was tested in batch experiments as an N-removal accelerating agent. The effect of the addition of various NO dosages (8–72 mg NO-N L?1) was studied under inhibitory nitrite concentrations (>100 mg NO2 ?-N L?1) for anammox bacteria. Optimal maintained NO concentration was 58 mg NO-N L?1 and brought about the highest biofilm-specific anammox activity (SAA). Compared to a blank test, the minimum concentration of added NO of 40 mg NO-N L?1 showed a statistically significant (p < 0.05) accelerating effect on SAA. No inhibition of SAA by NO was observed, although at NO concentrations exceeding 72 mg NO-N L?1, the acceleratory effect upon SAA was decreased by 8%. Changes in the bacterial consortia involved in nitrogen conversion were determined concurrently for the different nitrogen removal rates and operational conditions. Quantities of Planctomycetales clone P4 strains, which are the closest (99% similarity) relative to Candidatus Brocadia fulgida, increased from 1 × 103 to 1 × 106 anammox gene copies per g total suspended solids during reactor operation days 568–1600, which was determined by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. During the operation of the MBBR, the abundance of ammonium-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) increased proportionally (up to 30%). The abundance of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB) did not increase (remaining below 10%) during days 232–860. AOB became predominant over NOBs owing to the inhibition of free ammonia spiking on NOBs.  相似文献

The wastewater discharged by poultry slaughterhouse industries are characterized mainly by high biochemical oxygen demand, high suspended solids and complex mixture of fats, proteins and fibers requiring systematic treatment prior to disposal. In this study, the performance of an upflow anaerobic filter reactor for treating Indian poultry slaughterhouse wastewater under low upflow velocity of 1.38 m/day at mesophilic temperature (29-35 °C) was investigated. The reactor was inoculated with anaerobic non-granular sludge from an anaerobic reactor treating the poultry slaughterhouse wastewater. The reactor took 147 days for complete start-up with removal efficiencies of total chemical oxygen demand and soluble chemical oxygen demand of 70 and 79 % respectively. The maximum total chemical oxygen demand removal efficiency of 78 % was achieved at an organic loading rate of 10.05 kg/m3/day and at an hydraulic retention time of 12 h. The average methane content varied between 46 and 56 % and methane yield at maximum removal efficiency was 0.24 m3 CH4/kg CODremoved·day. Sludge granules of 1–2 mm were observed in between the packing media. Scanning electron microscope analysis revealed that sludge granules are composed of clumps of Methanosarcina clustered with less intertwined Methanosaeta fibre of granules. The lower velocity used in this study has achieved better performance of the reactor by creating active microbial formation with stable pH upto an organic loading rate of 14.3 kg/m3/day. This has proved that the poultry slaughterhouse wastewater can be treated using anaerobic filter reactor under low upflow velocity.  相似文献

This literature review surveys the previous and current researches on the co-digestion of anaerobic processes and examines the synergies effect of co-digestion with cattle manure. Furthermore, this review also pays attention to different operational conditions like operating temperature, organic loading rate (OLR), hydraulic retention time (HRT), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and volatile solid (VS) removal efficiency and biogas or methane production. This review shows that anaerobic mono-digestion of cattle manure usually causing poor performance and stability. Anaerobic studies were generally performed under mesophilic conditions maintained between 35 and 37 °C. Organic waste loading rate generally ranges from 1 to 6 g VS–COD L?1 day?1 stable condition in anaerobic digester. Generally, studies show that HRT for co-digestion of fruit–vegetables waste and industrial organic waste appears to exceed 20 days. However, the anaerobic co-digestion process is generally operated at HRT of between 10 and 20 days. VS and COD removal efficiency usually reaches up to 90 % due to co-digestion with different type organic waste. Methane–biogas production is generally obtained between 0.1 and 0.65 L CH4–biogas g?1 VS.  相似文献

Undiluted reject water from the dewatering of anaerobic sludge with an average total nitrogen content of 718 ± 117 mg L?1 (n = 63) was used to start-up autotrophic nitrogen removal in three different pilot-scale (3 m3) deammonification configurations: (1) biofilm; (2) activated sludge sequence batch; and (3) two-staged (nitritation–anammox). Time- and concentration-based aeration control with alternating aerobic/anaerobic phases was applied for all reactor configurations. All reactors were initiated without anammox-specific inoculum, and biofilm was grown onto blank carriers. During the initial start-up period, biological nitrogen removal was found to be inhibited by an excessive free ammonia content (>10 mg-N L?1), resulting from the use of high-strength reject water as the process feed. After implementation of free ammonia control by pH adjustment to 6.5–7.5, propagation of the deammonification process was observed with increased nitrogen removal with slight accumulation of NO3 ?–N. The highest total nitrogen removal rates were achieved with the single-reactor biofilm- and sludge-based deammonification processes (1.04 and 0.30 kg-N m?3 day?1, respectively). The critical factors for successful start-up and stable operation of deammonification reactors turned out to be control of pH below 7.5, dissolved oxygen at 0.3–0.8 mg-O2 L?1 and influent solids values below 1000 nephelometric turbidity units. Microbial analysis demonstrated that highest anammox enrichment was achieved in the biofilm reactor (9.40 × 108 copies g?1 total suspended solids). These data demonstrate the potential of an in-situ grown sludge- or biofilm-based concept for the development and propagation of deammonification process.  相似文献

Seafloor methane emission from the Quepos Slide on the submarine segment of the Costa Rica fore-arc margin was estimated by extrapolating flux measurements from individual seeps to the total area covered by bacterial mats. This approach is based on the combination of detailed mapping to determine the abundance of seeps and the application of a numerical model to estimate the amount of benthic methane fluxes. Model results suggest that the majority of the studied seeps transport rather limited amount of methane (on average: ~177 μmol cm?2 a?1) into the water column due to moderate upward advection, allowing for intense anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM; on average: 53 % of the methane flux is consumed). Depth-integrated AOM rates (56–1,538 μmol CH4 cm?2 a?1) are comparable with values reported from other active seep sites. The overall amount of dissolved methane released into the water column from the entire area covered by bacterial mats on the Quepos Slide is estimated to be about 0.28 × 106 mol a?1. This conservative estimate which relies on rather accurate determinations of seafloor methane fluxes emphasizes the potential importance of submarine slides as sites of natural methane seepage; however, at present the global extent of methane seepage from submarine slides is largely unknown.  相似文献

The co-treatment of landfill leachate (LFL) with municipal wastewater (MWW) using shortcut sequencing batch reactor combined with coagulation–settling process (SBR + CS) was investigated. Four ratios of LFL to MWW volume (v/v) were used during experiments including the ratios 1:9, 2:8, 3:7 and 5:5. The average quality of the LFL was chemical oxygen demand (COD) of 20,800 mg L?1 and NH4-N of 2,645 mg L?1. The SBR-treating LFL in six series where mixing aeration and settling phases were varied from 4 to 14 h was combined with coagulation (FeCl3, Al2(SO4)3) with an interval of 2 h. It was found that ratio (1:9) of leachate to MWW under aeration and mixing phase of 4 h with settling time of 1.5 h exhibited the highest ability to remove both COD and NH 4 + -N, 99% and 85%, respectively. The short-time sequential batch reactor was tested for the treatment of raw LFL, and only 47% and 23% removal of COD and NH 4 + -N, respectively, could be achieved.  相似文献

Agro-industrial wastewaters are known by high strength of organic pollutants that cause an adverse effect on the water bodies. Wastewater management becomes a major task, leads environmental regulations to be stricter worldwide. Increased disposal of untreated/partially treated industrial wastewaters are major environmental problems in Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, industries most commonly dispose their untreated wastewater straight into the nearby rivers. Somewhat, constructed wetlands are used by some industries for treatment of wastewaters. The objective of this review paper was to summarize the characteristics and recent research efforts done on anaerobic treatment of some selected agro-industrial wastewaters and innovative technologies used for cogeneration of byproducts. Many developed countries designed cost effective approaches for agro-industrial wastewater management. The full-scale anaerobic treatment system in China generates 40,000 m3 biogas daily for 20,000 households from agro-industrial wastes. Likewise, the Brewery, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia used full-scale anaerobic treatment technology and produce average methane yield of 487 Nm3/day. The estimated maximum methane production potential of Kera, Luna slaughterhouses, and Ada milk factory were 4.5599LCH4, 0.1878LCH4, and 0.9952LCH4, respectively. These indicate that they can be potential sources of biogas production. Limitations of the brewery are burning of the produced energy and some quantified parameters being become above national standards while meat processing and diary industries are discharging their wastewater without treatment into the rivers. We devised the brewery to use the produced energy properly and extend its treatment to achieve the national standards using integrated sequencing batch reactor. Similarly, slaughterhouse and diary industries should install anaerobic–aerobic integrated treatment techniques.  相似文献

Anthropogenic activities often result in the emissions of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) which are the principal components of greenhouse gases. The mitigation of these gases to avert further occurrence of global warming has attracted a lot of research interest. In this study, the potential of greenhouse gases abatement via catalytic CO2 (dry) reforming of methane to syngas over samarium oxide-supported cobalt (20 wt% Co/80 wt% Sm2O3) catalyst was investigated. The 20 wt% Co/80 wt% Sm2O3 material was synthesized via wet impregnation method and characterized using different instrument techniques. The methane dry reforming reaction, as well as its kinetics over the catalyst, was studied in a stainless steel fixed-bed continuous flow reactor at feed (CH4:CO2) ratios range of 0.1–1.0, temperature range of 923–1023 K and gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of 30,000 h?1. The 20 wt% Co/80 wt% Sm2O3 catalyst showed promising catalytic activity evident from the highest CH4 and CO2 conversion of ~71 and ~74% as well as the highest hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO) yield of ~62 and ~73%, respectively. Moreover, the methane dry reforming over the 20 wt% Co/80 wt% Sm2O3 catalyst produces H2/CO ratio close to unity hence suitable for use as a chemical intermediate for synthesis of oxygenated fuels. The kinetic data obtained from the methane dry reforming were fitted to power law model. Apparent activation energies of 88.62, 80.12, 108.12 and 100.91 kJ mol?1 were obtained for CH4, CO2, H2 and CO, respectively. The characterization of the spent 20 wt% Co/80 wt% Sm2O3 catalyst after 4 h of time-on-stream has confirmed the presence of amorphous carbon which can easily be gasified.  相似文献

In this study, nickel ions adsorption from zinc ingot factory wastewater by brown algae (Sargassum glaucescens) and chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol nano-fiber membrane at continuous system was studied. The continuous process included a biosorption reactor and fixed-bed reactor that were optimized by predicting two batch steps with response surface modeling, based on the Box–Behnken in the novel approach. Nano-biosorbent characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer analysis. Maximum biosorption in this continuous system was at pH 6, biosorbent doses 8 g L?1 S. glaucescens and 0.48 g L?1 nano-fiber. The study of the reaction rate showed kinetic data best fitted by pseudo-first-order model with R 2 > 0.95 than pseudo-second-order and intraparticle diffusion models. Biosorption equilibrium data were performed using Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich isotherm, Langmuir isotherm fit better with equilibrium data.  相似文献

In order to examine the fluxes of methane (CH4) from the Indian estuaries, measurements were carried out by collecting samples from 26 estuaries along the Indian coast during high discharge (wet) and low water discharge (dry) periods. The CH4 concentrations in the estuaries located along the west coast of India were significantly higher (113?±?40 nM) compared to the east coast of India (27?±?6 nM) during wet and dry periods (88?±?15 and 63?±?12 nM, respectively). Supersaturation of CH4 was observed in the Indian estuaries during both periods ((0.18 to 22.3?×?103 %). The concentrations of CH4 showed inverse relation with salinity indicating that freshwater is a significant source. Spatial variations in CH4 saturation were associated with the organic matter load suggesting that its decomposition may be another source in the Indian estuaries. Fluxes of CH4 ranged from 0.01 to 298 μmol m?2 day?1 (mean 13.4?±?5 μmol m?2 day?1) which is ~30 times lower compared to European estuaries (414 μmol m?2 day?1). The annual emission from Indian estuaries, including Pulicat and Adyar, amounted to 0.39?×?1010 g CH4?year?1 with the surface area of 0.027?×?106 km2 which is significantly lower than that in European estuaries (2.7?±?6.8?×?1010 g CH4?year?1 with the surface area of 0.03?×?106 km2). This study suggests that Indian estuaries are a weak source for atmospheric CH4 than European estuaries and such low fluxes were attributed to low residence time of water and low decomposition of organic matter within the estuary. The CH4 fluxes from the Indian estuaries are higher than those from Indian mangroves (0.01?×?1010 g CH4?year?1) but lower than those from Indian inland waters (210?×?1010 g CH4?year?1).  相似文献

Previous studies showed that 85 % of total organic matter (TOM) in digested sewage sludge (biosolids) used as a sealing layer material over sulfide tailings at the Kristineberg Mine, northern Sweden, had been degraded 8 years after application, resulting in a TOM reduction from 78 to 14 %. To achieve a better understanding of the field observations, laboratory studies were performed to evaluate biodegradation rates of the TOM under anaerobic conditions. Results reveal that the original biosolid consisted of ca. 60 % TOM (48.0 % lignin and 11.8 % carbohydrates) that had not been fully degraded. The incubation experiments proved that 27.8 % TOM in the biosolid was further degraded anaerobically at 20–22 °C during the 230 days’ incubation period, and that a plateau to the biodegradation rate was approached. Based on model results, the degradation constant was found to be 0.0125 (day?1). The calculated theoretical gas formation potential was ca. 50 % higher than the modeled results based on the average degradation rate. Cumulated H2S equated to 0.65 μmoL g?1 of biosolid at 230 days. However, the large sulfurous compounds reservoir (1.76 g SO4 2? kg?1 biosolid) together with anaerobic conditions can generate high concentrations of this gas over a long-term perspective. Due to the rate of biodegradability identified via anaerobic processes, the function of the biosolid to serve as an effective barrier to inhibit oxygen migration to underlying tailings, may decrease over time. However, a lack of readily degradable organic fractions in the biosolid and a large fraction of organic matter that was recalcitrant to degradation suggest a longer degradation duration, which would prolong the biosolid material’s function and integrity.  相似文献

Three sediment stations in Himmerfjärden estuary (Baltic Sea, Sweden) were sampled in May 2009 and June 2010 to test how low salinity (5–7 ‰), high primary productivity partially induced by nutrient input from an upstream waste water treatment plant, and high overall sedimentation rates impact the sedimentary cycling of methane and sulfur. Rates of sediment accumulation determined using 210Pbexcess and 137Cs were very high (0.65–0.95 cm?year?1), as were the corresponding rates of organic matter accumulation (8.9–9.5 mol C?m?2?year?1) at all three sites. Dissolved sulfate penetrated <20 cm below the sediment surface. Although measured rates of bicarbonate methanogenesis integrated over 1 m depth were low (0.96–1.09 mol?m?2?year?1), methane concentrations increased to >2 mmol?L?1 below the sulfate–methane transition. A steep gradient of methane through the entire sulfate zone led to upward (diffusive and bio-irrigative) fluxes of 0.32 to 0.78 mol?m?2?year?1 methane to the sediment–water interface. Areal rates of sulfate reduction (1.46–1.92 mol?m?2?year?1) integrated over the upper 0–14 cm of sediment appeared to be limited by the restricted diffusive supply of sulfate, low bio-irrigation (α?=?2.8–3.1 year?1), and limited residence time of the sedimentary organic carbon in the sulfate zone. A large fraction of reduced sulfur as pyrite and organic-bound sulfur was buried and thus escaped reoxidation in the surface sediment. The presence of ferrous iron in the pore water (with concentrations up to 110 μM) suggests that iron reduction plays an important role in surface sediments, as well as in sediment layers deep below the sulfate–methane transition. We conclude that high rates of sediment accumulation and shallow sulfate penetration are the master variables for biogeochemistry of methane and sulfur cycling; in particular, they may significantly allow for release of methane into the water column in the Himmerfjärden estuary.  相似文献

Ammonia is a major environmental factor influencing biomethanation in full-scale anaerobic digesters. In this study, the effect of different ammonia levels on methanogenic pathways and methanogenic community composition of full-scale biogas plants was investigated. Eight full-scale digesters operating under different ammonia levels were sampled, and the residual biogas production was followed in fed-batch reactors. Acetate, labelled in the methyl group, was used to determine the methanogenic pathway by following the 14CH4 and 14CO2 production. Fluorescence in situ hybridisation was used to determine the methanogenic communities’ composition. Results obtained clearly demonstrated that syntrophic acetate oxidation coupled with hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis was the dominant pathway in all digesters with high ammonia levels (2.8–4.57 g NH4 +-N L?1), while acetoclastic methanogenic pathway dominated at low ammonia (<1.21 g NH4 +-N L?1). Thermophilic Methanomicrobiales spp. and mesophilic Methanobacteriales spp. were the most abundant methanogens at free ammonia concentrations above 0.44 g NH3-N L?1 and total ammonia concentrations above 2.8 g NH4 +-N L?1, respectively. Meanwhile, in anaerobic digesters with low ammonia (<1.21 g NH4 +-N L?1) and free ammonia (<0.07 g NH3-N L?1) levels, mesophilic and thermophilic Methanosaetaceae spp. were the most abundant methanogens.  相似文献

In this study, the characteristics of sewage of small community were determined for 6 months to ascertain the type of treatment required in subtropical conditions. The results demarcated sewage of this community as a medium-strength wastewater (chemical oxygen demand: 475 mg/L, biochemical oxygen demand: 240 mg/L and total suspended solids: 434 mg/L). Chemical oxygen demand to sulphate ratio of the sewage (11.6) established that it was amenable to anaerobic digestion. The temperature, strength, biodegradability and components of sewage were suitable for anaerobic digestion, and thus, upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor (UASB) was selected for its treatment. These reactors are often shutdown in small communities due to environmental and/or socio-economic factors. The ability of two UASB reactors, seeded with cow dung (UASBCD) and activated sludge of a dairy treatment plant (UASBASDIT) to restart after a long idle period of 12 months, was investigated along with sludge analysis by scanning electron microscope. Biomass in both reactors reactivated rapidly after shutdown period and within 30 days after substrate feeding achieved uniform removal efficiencies for chemical oxygen demand, total suspended solids, total dissolved solids, chloride and oil and grease. Chemical oxygen demand removal efficiency of both reactors became uniform and remained close to 80% after 30 days through reactivation of microbes in sludge bed due to adequate food and temperature conditions. During restart-up, at an average organic loading rate of 0.902 kg COD/m3 per day, methane yields of 0.091 and 0.084 m3/kg COD removed were achieved for UASBCD and UASBASDIT reactors, respectively.  相似文献

Variability in baseline groundwater methane concentrations and isotopic compositions was assessed while comparing free and dissolved gas sampling approaches for a groundwater monitoring well in Alberta (Canada) over an 8-year period. Methane concentrations in dissolved gas samples (n?=?12) were on average 4,380?±?2,452 μg/L, yielding a coefficient of variation (CV) >50 %. Methane concentrations in free gas samples (n?=?12) were on average 228,756?±?62,498 ppm by volume, yielding a CV of 27 %. Quantification of combined sampling, sample handling and analytical uncertainties was assessed via triplicate sampling (CV of 19 % and 12 % for free gas and dissolved gas methane concentrations, respectively). Free and dissolved gas samples yielded comparable methane concentration patterns and there was evidence that sampling operations and pumping rates had a marked influence on the obtained methane concentrations in free gas. δ13CCH4 and δ2HCH4 values of methane were essentially constant (?78.6?±?1.3 and ?300?±?3?‰, respectively) throughout the observation period, suggesting that methane was derived from the same biogenic source irrespective of methane concentration variations. The isotopic composition of methane constitutes a robust and highly valuable baseline parameter and increasing δ13CCH4 and δ2HCH4 values during repeat sampling may indicate influx of thermogenic methane. Careful sampling and analytical procedures with identical and repeatable approaches are required in baseline-monitoring programs to generate methane concentration and isotope data for groundwater that can be reliably compared to repeat measurements once potential impact from oil and gas development, for example, may occur.  相似文献

Groundwater may be highly enriched in dissolved carbon species, but its role as a source of carbon to coastal waters is still poorly constrained. Exports of deep and shallow groundwater-derived dissolved carbon species from a small subtropical estuary (Korogoro Creek, Australia, latitude ?31.0478°, longitude 153.0649°) were quantified using a radium isotope mass balance model (233Ra and 224Ra, natural groundwater tracers) under two hydrological conditions. In addition, air-water exchange of carbon dioxide and methane in the estuary was estimated. The highest carbon inputs to the estuary were from deep fresh groundwater in the wet season. Most of the dissolved carbon delivered by groundwater and exported from the estuary to the coastal ocean was in the form of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC; 687 mmol m?2 estuary day?1; 20 mmol m?2 catchment day?1, respectively), with a large export of alkalinity (23 mmol m?2 catchment day?1). Average water to air flux of CO2 (869 mmol m?2 day?1) and CH4 (26 mmol m?2 day?1) were 5- and 43-fold higher, respectively, than the average global evasion in estuaries due to the large input of CO2- and CH4-enriched groundwater. The groundwater discharge contribution to carbon exports from the estuary for DIC, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), alkalinity, CO2, and CH4 was 22, 41, 3, 75, and 100 %, respectively. The results show that CO2 and CH4 evasion rates from small subtropical estuaries surrounded by wetlands can be extremely high and that groundwater discharge had a major role in carbon export and evasion from the estuary and therefore should be accounted for in coastal carbon budgets.  相似文献

Landfills are one of the major sources of methane (CH4) emission which is a very potent greenhouse gas. The use of a natural process for microbial CH4 oxidation through biocovers provides a source reduction of CH4 emission. Previous studies have mostly focused on biochemical properties, and limited research has been conducted with regards to the geotechnical characterization of compost based biocovers. This paper presents the results of a comprehensive laboratory investigation on pure compost and compost–sand mixtures (with mix ratio of 3:1, 1:1, and 1:3 w/w) to determine the compaction, shear strength, compressibility, and hydraulic and thermal conductivity properties of compost based biocovers. Direct shear and ring shear tests have shown that the cohesion (c) and friction angle (?) are in the range of 2.1–19.7 kPa and 44.1°–54.7°, respectively. Based on the results of one dimensional consolidation tests, the coefficient of consolidation (Cv) values are in the range of 1.71–0.63 m2/year, which is a function of the moisture and organic contents of the samples. The lowest hydraulic conductivity ranges from 6.09 × 10?8 to 1.78 × 10?7 cm/s which occur at optimum moisture contents. Thermal conductivity is measured under various porosities and moisture contents. By increasing the dry density and sand content of the mixtures, thermal conductivity increases. The results presented in this paper will contribute to a better understanding of the geotechnical behaviour of compost based biocover, and thus to a more cost-effective design of biocovers.  相似文献

The rate of aerobic oxidation of methane was calculated based on average profiles of the tritiumhelium age of the Baikal waters and concentrations of the dissolved methane in the water column. In the deep lake zone (>200 m), the intensity of oxidation vertically decreases and is (2–0.3) × 10?2 nl CH4l?1 days?1 in southern and central Baikal and (2.8–1.0) × 10?2 nl CH4 l?1 days?1 in northern Baikal. The effective coefficient of the oxidation rate in the lake depressions is 3.6 × 10?4, 3.3 × 10?4, and 3.7 × 10?4 days?1, respectively. At current methane concentrations in the water column, about 80 t of methane is oxidized per year. Oxidation of the dissolved methane in the water column was estimated at a possible increase of its concentration.  相似文献

The present study investigated the synergistic effect of co-digesting food and green waste from institute campus for enhanced biogas production in different ratios in batch tests (37 ± 1 °C, 90 rpm, 45 days). The results showed that blending improved the biogas production significantly, with highest biogas yield (660 ± 24 mL g?1 volatile solids) that was achieved at 75:25 of food and green waste ratio on volatile solids basis. The yield was 1.7- and 1.9-fold higher than the mono-digestion of food and green waste (370 ± 34; 342 ± 36 mL g?1 volatile solids), respectively. The increase in biogas production may be attributed to optimum carbon to nitrogen ratio resulting in higher yield. The addition of TiO2 nanoparticles showed virtually no effect on biogas production. Characterization was carried out to gain an insight of feedstocks. Modified Gompertz and logistics models were applied for kinetic study of biogas production where modified Gompertz model showed goodness of fit (R 2 = 0.9978) with the experimental results.  相似文献
