VARIATION OF AN URBAN HEAT ISLAND IN PHOENIX
Authors:Sheng-I Hsu
Abstract:Long-term minimum temperature records at climatic stations in the metropolitan Phoenix area present evidence of changes attributed to the urbanization process. The winter mean minimum temperature near the city's center has increased by 2° C from the agricultural period (1901–1920) to the modern period (1961–1977) and the difference of winter mean minimum temperatures between the center of the metropolitan region and the suburban area has increased from 3° C to 4° C during the same periods.
