浙江羚羊头骨化石的发现与研究

本文论述了1992年采自浙江开化的一件羚羊头骨化石。标本经记述对比研究后，认为它代表了GazelleBlaimville的一个新种，命名为开化羚羊（新种）Gazellekaihuaensissp．nov，时代也属于晚更新世。尚系浙江首次发现，这对羚羊的分布范围及其古地理、古环境等方面的研究具有一定的意义。

THE DISCOVERY AND STUDY OF GAZELLE SKULL FOSSIL IN ZHEJIANG

A fossil skull was collected from Kaihua county, Zhejiang provice in 1992. lt represents anew species,Gazella kaihuaensis sp. nov.,Which is described in this paper. This is the first discov-ery in zhejiang province which extends the distribution of Gazella.Antilopinae baird, 1857Gazella Blainville, 1815Gazella kaihuaensis sp. nov.(Text -fig. 1; PL. 1 )Type: A skull, the frontal part is darnaged (Kaihua, Zhejiang),Geoloical age: Late Plestocene.Diagnosis: The latter part of the skull behind horn-cores is well devoloped, it is longer thanthe part of forehead. The horn-cores stand directly above the orblt,they curve slightly backwardand diverge. The surface of the horn-cores is some what smooth. The skull has lachrymal fos-sae. The foramens supraorbitale are a bit small.Discussion: The kaihua specimen differs from those of Gazella przewalskyi and G. sinensis inhaving the smooth horn-corss and the little foramens supraobitale. G. gutturosa differs from thespecimen in having longer horn-cores and curving more strongly.The kaihua specimen is most similar to the Gazella kueitensis in the shape of skull, but G.kueitensis have longer horn-cores and bigger foramens supraorbitale.It is easy to distinguish the Kaihua specimen from other species of Gazella, The Kaihua spec-imen repressents a new species. We call it Gazella kaihuaensis sp. nov., Living in late Pleistocene.
