| Abstract: | The promotion of technology is an important means to optimize the utilization of resources and to support agricultural production in rural areas Increasing attention is being given to dissemination of advanced and appropriate technologies in rural areas, especially in poor areas A significant proportion of the rural male labor force is leaving farming to engage in business or seasonal labor away from the village Rural women have to take responsibility for both reproductive and productive roles The change in roles and responsibilities has redefined women's roles in technology dissemination The challenge for the agricultural extension system is to adapt to the changing situation and to seek relevant solutions This paper, using a gender perspective to technology dissemination, analyzes the characteristics and needs of women in technology reception based on surveys in Xiangda Township, Yunnan Province The author identifies the weaknesses and problems of the current agricultural technology extension system and proposes relevant suggestions |
