| Abstract: | In this paper we give a brief review on the geological features of the limestone caves distributing in western Fujian,taking the Tian' e Cave in Ninhua County and Xianhu Cave in Yongding County as the examples. Also,the paleoclimate and the stalagmite growth-rate are discussed using the results of 14C and U-series dating. Results show that the caves developed at 70 Ma,B. P. and flourished at 12-1Ma, B. P. - During five different climate periods the stalagmite developed from 210 ka,B. P. to 11 ka,B. P.. Not only the growth rate of the stalagmite was influenced by the climate periods,but also at the same time the growth rate of the stalagmite shows clearily the differences during different local climate. |
