| Abstract: | An approach to the use of large-scale remote sensing imagery in oil and gas exploration is described, and more specifically, the selection and interpretation of meaningful surface indicators to infer the existence of oil and gas traps in subsurface horizons. Through such “morphostructural” analysis arcuate, concentric relief elements often provide clues to the location of centers of ancient uplift and subsidence, which are then provisionally mapped along with other aspects of structure considered relevant in establishing the location of buried petroleum-bearing horizons.
