Abstract:Heterotrophic bacteria, which obtain nutrients and energy for growth and reproduction by decomposing organic matters into inorganic substances and act as feed for organisms of higher trophic levels, are important composition of microorganisms in the marine ecosystem. Some of the heterotrophic bacteria are disease inducers in special conditions, for example,Vibrio can infect shrimps with diseases when the environmental conditions deteriorate. It is thus very important to investigate the distribution of heterotrophic bacteria in shrimp ponds and its adjacent waters, monitor their quantitative change, especially of Vibrio,in order to prevent and control shrimp diseases and ensure stable and high culture production of shrimps. The paper focus on the investigation and analysis of heterotrophic bacteria in shrimp ponds in order to study the ecological distribution of heterotrophic bacteria and its relationship to shrimp diseases.
