Abstract:Based on comprehensive analysis of the nature and magnitude of the deformation of area caused by the Gauss projection, the article defends a method of correcting the area deformation by parabolic fitting to calculate the area, taking into account the curvature of the Earth.  It can convert the Gauss plane area to the spherical area on the surface of the ellipsoid directly, according to the average abscissa of area. The results show that this new method is not only simple in calculating, but also maintains high and stable precision, with the relative errors of the revised area at less than a millionth throughout the projection zone.
