Abstract: | ABSTRACT An efficient method of analysis is presented which yields directly estimates of the coefficients in the Muskingum flood routing equation: Oj+1 = c1Ij + c2Ij+1 + c3Oj that are best in the least squares sense. A simple conceptual model of lateral inflow is proposed and leads to an extended version of the Muskingum method that has a lateral inflow parameter in addition to the standard storage and weighting parameters, K and x. Applications to a number of flood events are given, and proposals for further studies suggested. |
