A simplified model for the generation of daily streamflows / Modèle simplifié pour la génération des événements d'écoulement total journaliers

Abstract

A technique for generating sequences of daily streamflows is presented which preserves the important characteristics of the daily flow hydrograph by the the use of a number of simple processes. The daily flow model is applied, in conjunction with a disaggregation model to preserve statistics of monthly and annual flows, to historic data for a river in the northwest of England. Several sets of synthetic data generated by the model are tested for their acceptability.
