| Abstract: | In a city,a piece of land was back filled ten years ago and has been left idle since then.Recently,the land was planned to develop by the local authority and a three-storied building was therefore built on its natural foundations.Soon after that,many minor cracks occurred along the north and south walls of the building with the east side more serious than the west side in cracking amount and developed extent.The reasons for the cracks are analyzed in the text in the lights of the foundation design for the grounds of the building,and the reinforcement measures for the cracking building are presented. |
