The U. S. A's Experience in Foreign Direct Investment and Its Enlightenment to China

U. S. A. is the biggest country in FDI around the world. During the history of its foreign direct investment, the industrial structure and rngional strategy have been changing, which are deeply affected by the domestic economic development. The industrial structure of FDI is changing accompanying that of the domestic economic structure. The U. S. A's economic structure has undergone a opitimizing process from the primary industry to the tertiary industry and from resource - intensive industry to technology - intensive industry. bo has the U. S. A. 's FDI structure although it falls behind the change of the domestic industrial structure. The regional strategies of U. S. A's FDI are varying in different regions. In general, the strategy changed from geoeconomic strategy to global strategy, and from resource - oriented strategy to market - oriented strategy. The FDI regions of U. S. A. varied from Latin AInerica to Europe.With Asia - Pacific economic rapidly developing, The U. S. A's FDI is currently transferring to this region.Based on the U. S. A's experience and the economic level and structure of China, Chinese enterprises should take the following regional strategies, concentrating on Asia - Pacific Region while decentra1izing around the world; and laying equal streas on both of the resource - oriented and the marketoriented.
