National capital region of India: a case of metropolitan growth management

The author examines the process of urbanization in Delhi, India's National Capital Region. An urban plan for the metropolitan area that emphasizes decentralization is assessed, and the spatial distribution of the population is described. The central city, suburban areas, and transportation and communication systems that link them are also considered.
