Abstract: | From early Greek cosmology and pre-socratic thought to Kant, Nietzsche and the philosophy of existence, ‘ocean’ is a figure of the most relevant significance, in accordance with two different patterns: as mythical representation of the principle of the universe and as metaphor of the adventure of human knowledge. Now the question could be: do the philosophical images of the ocean have some value for modern science? |
