A THINKING ABOUT DYNAMIC SEDIMENTOLOGY OF OROGENIC BELTS

Dynamic sedimentology of orogenic belts is an important aspect for the research on continental dynamics and geology of orogenic belts. The foundation for the study of the dynamic sedimentology of orogenic belts is to distinguish the original basins in orogenic belts, to re￣cognize their tectono sedimentary facies and their tectonic evolution. The major contents of dynamic sedimentology of orogenic belts include regional stratigraphy, sedimentology, tectonics, infilling succession or tectonic sequences, palaeogeography and paleo oceanogaphy, as well as the building up of the dynamic model of original basins. The research methods for the dynamic sedimentology of orogenic belts comprise composition and provenance analysis of sediments, sedimentary system and architecture analysis, infilling succession and tectonic sequences analysis, palaeocurrent and palaeogeography analysis, thickness and subsidence analysis, and also the dynamic modeling of sedimentary basin, etc.
