WARMLY CELEBRATE THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF CHINA

On the jubilant day of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Geological Society of China,the Institute of Geology,Academia Sinica (IGAS) hase the honour to extend its warm congratulations to the Geological Society of China,and cordial greetings to the broad explorers,geological teachers and scientists.The Geological Society of China is one of the earliest established scientific community in our country.Though it developed slowly in the 27 years before liberation,the Geological Society of China had made its valuable contributions to the progress of geosciences of our country under very poor conditions and had won its prestige both at home and abroad.The 33 years after liberation were the years that the Chinese geological cause advanced by leaps and bounds and the Geological Society of China developed unprecedentedly and grew steadily.The broad geological workers and members of the Geological Society of China had made remarkable exploits in exploring and exploiting natural resources,in engineering construction,in predicting and preventing geological and seismic hazards,in training qualified researchers on geosciences,in developing exploration technique,in raising scientific level of geology and carrying out academic exchange at home and abroad.In future,the Chinese Geological Society and other geological community,which are under the leadership of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology,will surely play a greater role in the course of building China into a modern and strong socialist country.The Institute of Geology of Academia Sinica is one of the earliest established organizations of Earth Sciences.After liberation,the Geological Society of China used to hold its office in IGAS.IGAS has also developed swiftly under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and with support of the Chinese Geological Society.It is anticipated that IGAS will still emphasize on basic and pioneering study as well as applied research with the help of The Chinese Geological Society and colleagues at home and abroad and that it mil make new contributions to the cause of socialist construction of our country.
