Authors:Henry B Kerfoot  John A Baker  David M Burt
Institution:Henry B. "Hank" Kerfoot;is an environmental chemist with GeoSyntec Consultants in Huntington Beach, California (). He received a B.S. in chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University and an M.S. in chemistry from Florida State University. His research interests include landfill-gas impacts on ground water and vadose-ground water solute exchange, fingerprinting contamination sources, geochemical issues pertaining to ground water and soil contamination, and the study of embonpoint. John A. Baker;is the president of Alan Environmental, Downers Grove, Illinois (, 541–3202). He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Illinois. He has worked in the area of waste-disposal ground water issues for more than 25 years. His research intersets include ground water monitoring at landfills and bioreactors, and effects of landfill capping on leachate quality. David M. Burt;is Senior Director, Groundwater Protection for Waste Management Inc., Houston, Texas (), where he is responsible for all ground water and related media issues. He holds a B.S. in geology from the University of Colorado, and an M.S. in geology and geophysics from California State University, Long Beach. He has been active in waste disposal-related ground water management and monitoring programs since 1989. His research interests include landfill behavior as it influences leachate and ground water quality.
