Abstract:In this paper, the question of the sensitivity to experimental error of results derived from steady-state sampling experiments in separation (specifically mineral processing) plants is addressed. The main tools used are those of network topology and numerical linear algebra. The techniques developed permit the assessment of alternative experimental designs for sensitivity to experimental error, and the choice of insensitive methods of data reduction. The techniques are illustrated by analysis of two actual sampling experiments.
