Abstract: | Observations of the Unified Radio and Plasma Wave (URAP) instrument onboard the Ulysses spacecraft have been used to analyze periods inherent in the Jovian broad-banded kilometric radio emission (bKOM) between 29 and 47 kHz. It is demonstrated, by using power spectrum analysis and linear prediction time filtering that the long-term fluctuations of the bKOM signal are triggered by the solar wind, particularly by the solar wind density, while no association was found with the solar wind velocity. In addition, there seem to be some inherent periodicities in the bKOM events which cannot be fully attributed to the influence of solar wind plasma quantities by these techniques. |
