Abstract:This paper describes the application of the test tube used to detect the CO_2 content in the ambient atmosphere for environmental protection to the exploration for oil and gas, and the testing mechanism by CO_2 test tube method and the testing of depth and humidity are briefly descussed. The results from profiles in integrating measurement within 24h by CO_2 test tube and area experiments in the known oil field indicate that the CO_2 test tube method can clearly show the position of fatults and oil field boundary and the reproducibility of measurement is surprisingly good. It is recommended that the CO_2 test tube method is an ideal method for oil and gas geochemical exploration because of its portability, rapidity, low cost, simple operation and limited interference.
