Anisotropy of Cs137 gamma-ray absorption in rocks

Abstract:Summary The anisotropy of the Cs137 gamma-ray absorption coefficient has been investigated in layered models and several rock samples. It was found that in contrast to other petrophysical parameters the gamma-ray absorption coefficient 
$$\mu _{Cs^{137} } $$
is characterized by a relatively small coefficient of anisotropy (3–5%). Therefore, the possible effect of the anisotropy can be neglected in the measurements of mgr for rocks as it is usually below current observational errors.
