Abstract: | The Earth's inner core has been the focus of much attention in recent years — its evolution, when it began to form and how quickly it grew, and what role it plays in the generation and reversals of the Earth's magnetic field. It has also been found that it is elastically anisotropic and, even more surprisingly, that it is rotating faster than the rest of the Earth. |
