| Abstract: | The author examines in her article the destinies of over a score of small peoples of the North inhabiting the northern outlying regions of the USSR who have, during the Soviet period, traversed a path of rapid progress in their economy and culture. Data from the two most recent censuses (1959 and 1970) are adduced to show the numbers of these peoples. |
