Regularization and the artificial Earth satellite problem

Some of the properties of singularities of a system of differential equations, which includes several formulations of the artificial Earth satellite problem, are derived. Using them, it is shown that this problem cannot be regularized by using the current commonly used ideas and definitions of regularization.
