Small-scale maps of geochemical barriers

We examined the various aspects of the study into radial geochemical barriers in soils, their classification, and some mapping problems as well as the experience in compiling small-scale maps of geochemical barriers. We describe the technique for compiling maps of geochemical barriers (topsoils — biogeochemical and subsoil — physicochemical barriers) for the territory of Russia, based on M. A. Glazovskaya’s new typological grouping of barriers. The maps thus compiled are the result of applying the new typization and target-oriented interpretation of soil profiles (sets of genetic horizons) for the purposes of mapping large territories.
