Abstract: | Abstract It is pointed out that the Lamb frequencies which are known in the case of a plane isothermal atmosphere, exist locally in a spherical gaseous star. The isothermal atmosphere appears to be a limiting case in which the local frequencies become equal at all points of the layer, so that they give rise to frequencies of the global layer. This limiting case is made possible by the absence of curvature and of any variability in the velocity of sound. |
