Abstract: | An earlier investigation of metasomatic alteration (Curtis and Brown, 1969) is extended to trace element distribution. Most element profiles may be linked simply with diffusive mixing. Between element differentiation is slight, but certain elements are selectively concentrated in particular mineral phases.Trace elements never exhibit the spectacular unmixing shown by some major elements as monomineralic zones develop. Local equilibrium considerations still contribute materially to an understanding of overall behavior. |
