On the existence of periodic orbits in a nearly axisymmetric galaxy

Assuming that the potential field on the plane of symmetry of a nearly axisymmetric galaxy is a polynomial of the fourth degree, we study the conditions of existence and stability of the main types of periodic orbits. We verify the theoretical results by numerical calculations.
