Recent Studies in the Svartisen Area

This Article summarizes a number of unpublished reports of geomorphological and glaciological studies undertaken annually in the Svartisen area (Fig. 1) by parties from Cambridge, England; authors of the various reports are indicated in the appropriate sections below. The summarized papers cover part of a programme carried out between 1956 and 1963, the aims of which have been to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the geomorphology of the Svartisen area, and to investigate in detail certain aspects of the regime of glaciers there. Work in the area was continued in 1964.
