APPLCATION POTENTIAL OF GROUND GAMMA-RAY SPECTROMETRIC SURVEY TO PROSPECTING FOR GOLD

The basic principle of ground gamma-ray spectrometric survey for gold is briefly des- cribed. Experimental results of Shuangwang and Hulugou gold deposits are enumerated. Application potential of ground gamma-ray spectrometric survey for gold exploration is analyzed. The author considers that ground gamma-ray spectrometric survey as an indirect technique for gold exploration can be applied to prospecting for gold in various stages of gold exploration. Under given conditions, it can be applied to guide exploration and ar- range mining engineering. Gold deposits formed in different geological environments posses evidently different ground gamma-ray spectra. The prospecting effect is obvious for gold deposits associated with alkaline metasomatic environments.
