| Abstract: | The origin of the noticeablc magnificent plateau is thought of a key for bringing to light the crustal movement of continent. Several hypotheses so far for the mechanism of the plateau-building have been summarized, which is mainly a collision between the Indian and Tibetan continents. This paper proposes that the plateau-building is resulted by subduction of basins surrounding the plateau. The upper mantle within the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is subsided, which is governed by gravitational iso-static process of the Earth. |
