POSITION AND ROLE OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF HEXI ECONOMIC BEIT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF NORTHWEST CHINA

Hexi Corridor is located between the Qilianshan Mountains and Beishan Mountains.It is contiguous to North China at the east, Mongolia at the north, Xinjiang at the west,and Qinghai and Xizang at the south. Hexi corridor was a strategic base to develop Northwest China in the history because of its important position. It possesses the rich mineral deposits, good agricultural condition and industrial bases, various agricultural products, convenient traffic, and colourful tourism landscape. Therefore, it is an ideal region to establish an economic belt. To construct the Hexi economic belt will have significant influences on developing Northwest China, keeping stability of society and national unity, reducing the economic difference between East China and West China, lightening the population pressure, developing the frontier trade, ect.
