摘    要:1. INTRODUCTIONThe Yellow River is a heavily sediment--laden river. Floods at Hyperconcentrationso f sediment (hereinafter simply referred to as hyperconcentrated flood) frequently occurring in the main river and its tributaries possess different characteristics of sedimenttransport. Sometimes they cause severe deposition whereas at other times they are capable of carrying substantial amount of sediment over long distances. The study on the lawof sediment transport is of significance to …

Abstract:This paper deals with sediment transport at hyperconcentrations in the Yellow River and its tributaries in channel of different patterns (braided and meandering). Such kind of sediment transport has significant effects on the formation and stability of a deep and narrow channel best suited to the conveyance of hyperconcentrated flood. The anomalies occurring with such flow are also discussed.
Keywords:Hyperconcentrated flood   Channel patterns   Braided   Meandering   Morphology   Bingham model   Yield stress   Deposition   Scouring.
