| Abstract: | C.F. Yoder's scenario 1979 for the capture into resonance of the first three Galilean satellites is reexamined. A more refined dynamical model for the resonance and for the tidal effects is proposed and analyzed. The results agree qualitatively with those of Yoder but differ numerically by 10 to 20%. |
