| Abstract: | The suggestion is advanced that heating of the solar corona results from Landau damping of ion-acoustic waves generated in the motion of photospheric granules. Laboratory experiments relevant to the question of corona heating are discussed, together with the available observational information on the extent of energy deposition in the corona.Of the European Space Research Organization (ESRO). |
