Abstract:The palaeoecology of the Xujiahe flora (Late Triassic) distributed over Eastern Sichuan on the northern edge of Yangtze Platform is primitively discussed in this paper.The fossil plants are collected from Tieshan Daxian, Wenquan Kaixian, Tanba Hechuan and Qilixia Xuanhan, Sichuan Province. They comprises about 90 species belonging to 47 genera. Based on the analysis of individual and population, and sedimentary environment, the four communities are founded, i. e. (1) the riparian hydrophyte community, (2) the marsh humidiherbosa, (3) the humidogene -mesopilous shrub -arbor community on shallow and flat country and (4) the mesophilous - xeric arbor community. Neo-calamites is the dominant plant in (1) , and Dipteridaceae and Osmundaceae in (2) , Dorato phyllum and Pterophyllum in (3), Baiera and Podozamites in (4) respectively. They formed the succession of community, and the mesophyilious- xeric arbor community is the climax. And in fact, this is a course of lake filled. There is a close relationshi mong the types of plant, communities and environments in this course.
