Abstract:Based on the Landsat TM/ETM+/OLI images in 1995,2005 and 2015,and using MRSEI index,this research monitored and quantitatively evaluated the ecological environment of Dulan County,Qinghai Province over the past 20 years. The results showed that:(1)From 1995 to 2015,the average MRSEI of Dulan County increased from 0.300 to 0.381,showing an ascending trend year by year. Combined with MRSEI differential analysis,the proportion(41.76%)of areas with increased ecological grades was greater than that(9.14%)of areas with decreased ecological grades from 1995 to 2015,showing that the degree of environmental improvement was greater than that of environmental deterioration.(2)The ecological environment of Dulan County was affected by climate change and human activities. The areas with increased MRSEI levels were mainly concentrated in the east of the county benefiting from the government’s ecological protection policy and the warm-humid climate conducive to vegetation growth,while the areas with decreased MRSEI levels were mainly concentrated in the northwest and southwest of the county mainly due to the over-exploitation and over-grazing for the salt lake resources.(3)In the future economic development,we should follow the natural law,and rationally develop and utilize natural resources on the basis of effectively preserving the existing forest and grass vegetation.
