Abstract:
The response of a shallow subsurface anomaly to an SH wave with source on the surface is computed by using a two dimensional finite element technique. It is demonstrated that the effects of the depth and relative material composition of the anomaly can be identified in the power spectra. The behaviour of the response agrees with principles established from investigating cases where the SH wave is incident from below.
