Multiphase cross bracing in earthquake resistant structures

The concept of multiphase cross bracing is discussed and tests undertaken on a simple cross braced frame are described. From these experiments it is concluded that selected multiphase response may be achieved reliably in cross braced frames if sufficient attention is given to the determination of the material characteristics and to the structural detailing.
