Abstract:Although urban land is scarce and costly, it sustains in most cases various types of resources which can be exploited with ingenuity. Such resource exploitation depends equally on the type of additional inputs and/or technology deployed on the said land. Urban dwellers, including civil servants and their dependants have discovered the small-scale agricultural potentials that such urban lands provide in Cameroon. Nowadays, more of these urban dwellers use their off-office and other leisure hours in developing gardening habits. Substantial monetary compensations and some shading off of mental strain now accrue in the packet of results obtained so far. Apart from the Buea gardeners studied in this article, others in similar situations elsewhere should join in at this time when African food problems keep flickering on international screens.
