Abstract: | A new type of sunspot prominences (splintering loop prominences) is described. They have loop structure, but their material seems to originate from the lower layers. A tentative interpretation of the new type is given. In the splintering loop prominences on October 7, 1967 a phenomenon was observed which might be interpreted as the capture of an ejected prominence streamer by transverse magnetic fields of the loops. On leave from the Astronomical Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Ondejov. |
