Geometrical spreading of seismic body waves in laterally inhomogeneous media with curved interfaces of the second order

Summary Seismic rays and geometrical spreading in laterally inhomogeneous media are described by a system of ordinary differential equations of the first order. When the ray crosses an interface of the second order, certain quantities in the system change discontinuously. The initial conditions for the system at the point of intersection of the ray with the interface are presented.
