AN OUTLINE OF THE WAYS AND RESULTS OF SEISMOLOGICAL POPULARIZATION IN SUZHOU CITY

One important policy for earthquake preparedness and hazard mitigaton in China is to raise the consciousness of earthquake preparedness of the nation. In order to accomplished the purpose of earthquake preparedness and hazard mitigation, the Seismological Office of Suzhou city has tried its best to conduct seismological popularization in various ways and forms for many years, with good results. In this paper, the ways and results of seismological popularization activities performed by the Seismological Office of Suzhou city are outlined;some problems existing in seis- mological popularization are enumerated and the methods for solving the problems are suggested.
