Analysis of Reliability and Troubleshooting of Host Computer in SOMATOM DR3Computed Tomography System

The host computer is PDP 11/44 in SOMATOM DR3 computed tomography system which was manufactured by SIEMENS in 1983. Host computer is used for core of system control. PDP11 Series computer has So-called UNIBUS construction and it is powerful in interrupt processing, therefore, scanning start, control, real-time data acquisition, image reconstruction and administration, image store and transfer as well as multi-task sharing processing of main console and sate llite console etc. can be done well. But if the host computer is wrong or is going down, the influence would be serious. That means reliability of host computer system is so important that computed tomography system can not do any thing without running of host computer well.In this article, the trouble and service of PDP11/14 host computer of DOMATOM DR3 CT were described. Overall reliability of computer control system was analysed and discused.
