Institution: | Dr. Pedro J. Alvarez, P.E., is an assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Iowa (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Iowa City, IA 52242–1527). He holds a B.S. degree in civil engineering from McGill University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in environmental engineering from the University of Michigan. Dr. Alvarez was recently inducted by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers with Diplomate status (DEE). Honors include the Career Award from the National Science Foundation (1995), Best Paper Award from the EPA/HSRC for Regions 7 and 8 (1995), and the Outstanding Achievement Award in Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan (1991). His research emphasizes enhanced bioremediation of sites contaminated with priority pollutants through engineered control of the environment. |
